This project was inspired by my cookie-crafting friend Cindy of Zoe Hawaii. She creates the most amazing sugar cookies, and we often collaborate to combine cookies and cards. So when I saw this new gingerbread set, I thought, why not make a cookie card that feels like home in Hawaii?
The Bundle: Gingerbread Man Stamps & Dies
The Stampinā Up! Gingerbread Man Bundle is packed with creative options. It includes customizable faces, fun sentiments, frosting details, and even little cookie crumbs! The coordinating dies let you cut accessories like candy canes, bows, hats, and scarves. While most people might reach for brown cardstock to make traditional gingerbread, I decided to use Crumb Cake cardstock to mimic a frosted sugar cookie.
Sugar Cookie Hula Girl Card | Video Tutorial
Watch this step-by-step video tutorial to see exactly how I created this handmade Sugar Cookie Hula Girl Card using the Stampinā Up! Gingerbread Man Bundle. Youāll learn tips for stamping, die-cutting, and adding tropical details so your holiday cards stand out ā be sure to watch all the way through for extra design ideas at the end!
Making the Sugar Cookie Hula Girl Card
Card Base ā Start with Very Vanilla cardstock and die-cut the largest gingerbread shape. Fold along the score line for a shaped card base.
Cookie Layer ā Stamp the large gingerbread outline on Crumb Cake cardstock, then fussy cut it to layer over the base.
Face & Details ā I chose a face with eyelashes (perfect for a hula girl!) and added rosy cheeks using flat pearls from the 2025ā2027 In Color collection.
Lei & Flowers ā Using the Happy Hibiscus bundle, I die-cut flowers to create a colorful lei and added a large bloom in her hair.
Hula Skirt ā A scrap piece of cardstock became her skirt. I freehand cut the shape, then snipped fringe along the bottom to mimic grass skirt movement.
Finishing Touches ā Foam adhesive frosting on her arms gave extra dimension, and the sentiment āSugar and Spice and Everything Niceā was stamped inside.
The result? A festive handmade Christmas card with a fun tropical flair.
