Ladybug Themed Craft Event Filled with Creativity, Friendship & Fun
There is something special about gathering together to create, laugh, and spend time with people who share a love of crafting. Our recent Ladybug Picnic Crafternoon was the perfect reminder of why these themed events have become some of our favorites to host.
When we first saw the Sweet Bugs Bundle, we knew it would be the perfect inspiration for an afternoon filled with creativity, friendship, and a little bit of playful fun. The team embraced the theme with matching black shirts and red polka-dot scarves as we welcomed guests to the beautiful Oahu Country Club for a memorable day of stamping, treats, games, and community.
A Picnic Filled with Sweet Surprises
Every table featured an adorable picnic basket centerpiece overflowing with treats, snacks, and a few surprise visitors. We even added some friendly "Aunties" to the baskets, giving them cheerful smiles with our new white gel pen so they looked more welcoming than spooky.
One of the funniest moments of the day happened right at the beginning. As I was explaining the schedule and reminding everyone not to eat the treats just yet because they were needed for a game later in the afternoon, we discovered that several guests had already helped themselves! Thankfully, I had packed extra snacks, so we were able to refill the baskets before game time. It was a perfect reminder that our guests feel right at home at our events.
Meet Your Bug Character
The fun began the moment guests arrived. Instead of simply picking up a name tag, everyone participated in a bug-themed activity using a net hidden inside a large decorative tree. Each person pulled out a surprise bug character that became part of their name badge for the day.
From bees and ants to caterpillars and ladybugs, each guest discovered their bug identity before heading into the event. One of our favorites was Ralene's adorable "stink bug" badge. Whether or not stink bugs belong in a ladybug picnic is still up for debate, but it certainly added plenty of laughs and became a memorable part of the day.
Learning New Stampin' Up! Techniques
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the opportunity to see a variety of new Stampin' Up! products and ideas in action. Throughout the event, guests enjoyed five live demonstrations featuring creative techniques, project inspiration, and fresh ways to use some of our favorite new products.
These demonstrations are always a favorite part of our events because they spark new ideas and help crafters see products in a whole new way. Whether you're an experienced stamper or just getting started, there is always something exciting to learn and take home with you.
Sweet Bugs Bundle Inspiration
One of the stars of the event was the Sweet Bugs Bundle. Throughout the afternoon, guests enjoyed seeing a variety of cheerful card designs featuring these adorable bug-themed images. From playful ladybugs to whimsical garden-inspired creations, the projects showcased just how versatile this bundle can be for card making throughout the year.
And there were fabulous bug themed make and take projects.
Creative Projects and Cookie Delights
Guests also enjoyed a collection of bug-themed make-and-take projects inspired by the Sweet Bugs Bundle. These hands-on projects gave everyone the opportunity to create while trying out some of the products and techniques featured throughout the event.
Of course, no themed event would be complete without a sweet surprise. Our friend Cindy Ontai of Zoe Hawaii created the most adorable ladybug cookie that was tucked inside every attendee's kit. As if that wasn't enough, Cindy also brought a cookie garden where guests could select three bug-themed cookies and place them into a charming strawberry basket. The cookies were almost too cute to eat... almost!
Games, Prizes, and Plenty of Smiles
Our Ladybug Picnic Pass game brought lots of excitement and laughter as guests eagerly waited to discover whether they would be among the lucky winners. Those selected had the chance to search through their baskets and uncover surprise prizes hidden inside.
The fun continued with product giveaways and grand prize drawings. Watching the excitement on everyone's faces as names were called is always one of our favorite parts of hosting an event.

The Heart of Every Event
While the projects, demonstrations, games, and prizes are always fun, the true highlight of every event is the people. We are so grateful for the creative community that continues to gather, encourage one another, and share in the joy of crafting together.
This Ladybug themed craft event will remain one of my personal favorites. I am thankful for my incredible team, wonderful customers, and the friendships that have grown through this creative journey. As we packed up and prepared to head home, a beautiful rainbow appeared outside the window, providing the perfect ending to a truly special day.
