How To Add Movement To Your Cards | Hula Dancing Party Pig
Ready to shake things up with your cardmaking? Let's get this party started!
There's something magical about a card that does more than just sit there looking pretty. Today, I'm going to show you how to create a card that literally moves and grooves – featuring the most adorable hula-dancing pig you've ever seen!
This whimsical creation uses the Stampin' Up! Party Piggy Bundle and a clever little crafting secret called "Action Wobbles" to create a card that's guaranteed to make anyone smile. When your recipient opens this card, they'll be treated to a little piggy that shimmies and shakes in its adorable green hula skirt!

Add Movement To Your Cards | Piggy Party Hula Card Video Tutorial
Ready to try this wiggling wonder for yourself? What other die cuts do you have that you'd add movement to? I'd love to hear how your card turns out!
Let’s Hop Into Action….
Start with a piece of Pool Party cardstock cut to 4¼" × 11" and fold it in half to create your card base.
Cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock 1¼" × 4¼" and emboss it using the Happy Hibiscus embossing folder. This creates a textured "stage" for our dancing pig! Adhere this strip to the bottom of your card base.
Stamp the pig's body and head in Memento Black ink on white cardstock, then die cut using the coordinating dies.
Die cut a second body piece from Garden Green cardstock – this will become our hula skirt later!
Color the pig using your Stampin' Blends: Bubble Bath for that perfect piggy pink, and Pecan Pie for the cute little snout, ears, and feet.
Use the Everyday Arches dies to cut a white arch, and cut flowers and a tag from the Happy Hibiscus dies using white cardstock.
Adhere the arch to the center of your card front – this creates a perfect spotlight for our dancing star.
Stamp "What's Shakin' Bacon" on the white tag and adhere it to the bottom of your card as shown.
For the hula skirt (my favorite part!): Take that Garden Green die-cut and trim it to fit as our pig's skirt. Cut small slits across the bottom edge to create the fringe of the skirt. The video shows exactly how to get this just right!
Attach one flower to the pig's ear for that tropical flair, and use the other three to create a beautiful lei around the pig's neck. Place a pink pearl in the center of each flower using the In-Color flat pearls.
Now for the magic: Attach an Action Wobble to the back of your pig and adhere it to your card. Give it a gentle tap, and watch your pig start to dance!
This card isn't just adorable – it's interactive! Every time someone touches it, that little piggy will shake its bacon, bringing smiles all around. It's perfect for birthdays, congratulations, or anytime you want to brighten someone's day.
I also created a variation for my granddaughter with a different sentiment and a tutu instead of a hula skirt. The "you make my heart smile" sentiment paired with a tulle skirt makes for an equally charming alternative! Stay tuned for an upcoming tutorial on how to create a similar Tutu card!
And as you can see, it was a big hit! There's nothing like seeing the joy these handmade treasures bring to the little ones in our lives.
Whether you're making the hula dancer or adapting the design for other occasions, this technique opens up a whole world of movement in your cardmaking. The Action Wobbles are so simple to use but create such a delightful effect!
Until next time, keep those cards moving and shaking!
With love and blessings,
Cindy
