Happy Dance

The weekend is here and I am so glad it is. I am grateful that I have done really well physically, spiritually and emotionally this week despite the high’s and low’s I’ve encountered as I continue to deal with a mystery illness..

A low point of this week was during a consultation with an oncologist. While meeting with him, I became aware that I have all the symptoms of Hodgkins Lymphoma. It’s not that I’ve been diagnosed with that, but it was clear that it was one of the things they are looking for.

As for high points, there were several. First, I contacted a local environmental company to come and test the air at our home. This was to eliminate the possibility that I had been poisoned with mold. The testing costs between $600 to $1,000. Although the cost was high we knew we needed to do the service. When I called to schedule the service, the owner told me that they would be coming out the next day and that they would be doing the work at no cost. I was stunned. I don’t usually cry a lot, but upon hearing this news, I burst into tears of joy and I probably cried for 30 minutes straight. When I asked him why they were doing this for me, he said, “It’s good to do some good every once in a while, its why we started this business”. Their act of kindness not only blessed me but it inspired me. The testing was done the next day and everything came out clear. No mold.

Another high point was when I went over my most recent CT Scan with my doctor. My lungs looked SO much better. Of course the assumption is that this improvement is due to the medication I am taking. However, I am believing with all my heart that these results are because of the answered prayers of so many who have been praying for me. I know that includes many of your reading this right now,. If that’s you, I just want to say, Thank You SO Much!!!! I am so grateful for you.

This week I downloaded this awesome Bible Memory Ap and have have been working on memorizing the book of James, chapter one. Here is the first few verses of that passage:

Consider it PURE JOY, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials or many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and compete, not lacking anything. James 1:1-4

As I read this I am reminded that we all will face trials in life. This doesn’t say “IF” you face a trial but it says “WHENEVER” you face trial(s) with an “S” which means you will likely face more than one during your lifetime!!! These trials will be challenging but we can look at them as opportunities to grow our faith and develop perseverance. I know for me there are areas of my walk with Christ that I have been praying for to be strengthened. I am thankful that this situation is providing an opportunity for me to grow more into who God has created me to be.

So, today I am standing on God’s promises and claiming victory over this illness. So many of you have prayed and believed for my healing, I think it’s about time I stop focusing on my symptoms and instead focus on the fact that I know God is my healer and there is nothing too difficult for him. Knowing this, comforts me and fills me with hope and a great deal of peace.

I know that some of you reading this are going through challenges right now. There have been many of you who have written me privately or pulled me to the side at a meeting or class to share your story. My heart goes out to you as my situation pales in comparison to many of the struggles you are facing today. Please know that I am praying for you and that I hope that no matter how difficult your circumstances are, you will remember that God is near and desires to help you!

Here is one of my favorite Bible promises to encourage you:

Fear not, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Speaking of help and strength, one of the persons who has really blessed me this week is my downline and friend Jodi Hashimoto. She along with several others from the Stamped With Aloha family have stepped in to run our monthly Inspiration Nights in my place. I was so thankful that a few days ago I was able to attend our Inspiration Night. Jodi did a great job designing adorable projects as she always does!!! I’ll share those projects in a future post but for today, I want to show you a card that she designed for one of her recent classes.

Now I must warn you, before you scroll down to see it, you might want to clear some space around you because it is so stinkin’ cute, it may cause you to jump up and start doing a happy dance!!!

This Little Piggy Card

This Little Piggy Card

Jodi created this adorable card with the sets, This Little Piggy and Tropical Chic. She hand cut the grass skirt with a piece of Old Olive Card Stock and Paper Snips. I love how Jodi took one of our Frosted Flower Embellishments and colored it to match the card with a Stampin’ Blends Marker.

If you want to see all the cute critter cards Jodi designed for her “on the farm” class, you can click this link to go to her blog: The Stamping Owl.

When a new catalog comes out, I am always looking for ways to add a little Hawaiian flair to my creations. So I used Jodi’s card my inspiration and I got out my new Dino Days stamp set and created this.

Happy Hula Dinosaur

Happy Hula Dinosaur

This little dinosaur is so adorable. There are other dinosaurs to choose from, but this is my favorite and I think the sentiment is so perfect! The coordinating Dinosaur Designer Series Paper is so amazing too. I can’t wait to play around with this set and make more fun creations.

Here is another way I laid out the same card idea.

Dino Days - Hula Dinosaur

Dino Days - Hula Dinosaur

The hula skirt was created with the Dino Dies that are a part of the Dinosaur Suite. All I had to do was to snip a little of each end of the Old Olive Card stock to create a fun mini hula skirt for this adorable dinosaur.

As you can see I also followed Jodi’s idea of coloring the Frosted Floral Embellishments in with a Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Dino Day’s Hula Dinosaur Cards

I chose a Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends Marker, to color in the Frosted Flower Embellishment so that the flower would match the little speckles in the Dinosaur Designer Series Paper.

Well, I’m off to yet another doctors appointment!!! I better take a moment to catch my breath from all that dancing!

As I go, I will continue to walk in faith and victory believing that He who began a good work in me, will be faithful to complete it.

With Faith, Hope and Love,

Cindy

This Little Piggy Projects

One of my favorite stamp sets in our new catalog is This Little Piggy.  So I decided to feature it at my last Inspiration Night gathering.

We created 4 piggy note cards with envelopes and a pig pen crate to be used as a holder.  When everything was packaged together, it looked like this.

Let's take a look at the four unique cards that are a part of this set.

This first piggy card is very sweet and simple.  The pig was stamped onto a Blushing Bride card stock and then cut out so that only a tiny bit of coloring was needed on the flower and grass.

This card is sure to bring a smile not only to the recipient but also to the person who is creating it, just like it did while Lorene was making it.

Do you like the other card Lorene is holding?  This was our little Hula Pig Card.   Another one of the products I featured at this event was our wood textures Designer Series Paper.  This 6 x 6 pad is filled with all different types of wood patterns that coordinate great with the Piggy set and also looks fabulous on masculine cards.

This adorable little piggy was transformed into a Hula Pig by adding a coconut bra made with our Cookie Cutter Builder punch and the skirt was made with one of the flowers from the Blossom Builder punch that was just trimmed down a little.

Normally the sentiment on the inside of this card would say, "This Little Piggy, say's Thanks".  But thanks to our Labeler Alphabet stamp set I covered up the word "thanks" with the word "Mahalo" which is truly what any Hawaiian piggy would say when he is all dressed up and headed to a luau.

This next cute Piggy card featured fussy cut wings to add dimension.

I colored this one in with stampin write markers and of course added a tiny jeweled flower from the Tree Builder Punch, one of my favorites.   The message on this card says, "She believed she could, so she DID"!

It made me happy to see everyone having such a great time making these cards, especially cards like this one that can be used to encourage others!

For our final card I did something a little different.  I cropped the bottom of the note card and added a strip of tear tape to seal the side and bottom. Then I took a separate piece of card stock and added a pull tab to the top so it would be easy to insert inside the pocket I had made.

Here is the finished pocket with the card tucked inside.

Then all you need to do is pull the tab and the inside sentiment is revealed.

This card would be perfect as a gift card holder.  My favorite part of this piggy is how muddy he is.  That look was created with an ink pad and a blender pen.  He looks so happy and content like any piggy would after spending a sunny afternoon taking a mud bath.

All of these cards were packaged together and placed inside of a crate.  The crate was made with our Wooden Crate Framelits.  However, when you make the wood crate it is too small to fit the note cards but my downline Zeny found a way to expand it.   Here are her instructions.

Wood Crate Box – Extended   (by Zeny Lucey)

This extended crate box will fit 4 note cards & envelopes.

- Card stock – 3-1/2 x 6”

Score on the 6” side at 3-5/8 and 4”.  Fold these score lines as a mountain (3-5/8”)

and valley (4”) fold.  Place the Crate Box Thinlit with the side flap edge over the

scored section.  Run thru the Big Shot.

Note:  You’ll need to run 2 of these to make the crate.

- DSP strips – 3/8 x 3-7/8” (6x).  Adhere to crate before assembling.

I had such a fabulous time at Inspiration Night with my downline who truly inspire me with all the love and aloha they continually bless me with, especially during this season in my life.

I've already designed projects for our next gathering.  It will be happening near the end of my treatment so plans are in place for someone else to run the meeting should I not feel up to attending.  However, I'm going to have to be pretty tired to keep me away from these lovely ladies who are such a blessing to me!

Well, I hope you enjoyed learning about these cute Piggy Projects!  I love this set and look forward to using it often.

What a Sweet Treat!

Yesterday my friend and downline Zeny came over to stamp with me.  Zeny had offered to help me prepare for our July Stamped With Aloha Inspiration where we will be featuring our new "This Little Piggy" stamp set.  Whenever Zeny comes over to stamp she always has some type of sweet treat in her bag.  Whether its cookies or brownies or chocolate its fun to see her eyes light up when she reaches in her bag to share a sweet treat with me.

With my recent health challenges one of the main things I've been trying to avoid is sugar so when she asked me recently about sharing some treats with me, I politely told her that I wouldn't be able to have any but she was welcome to bring for herself.

When Zeny arrived yesterday she did what she normally does, she reached in her bag with twinkling eyes and a smile and set down two bags of "treats" on the table.  They looked like a bags of gummy bears.  I didn't want to be rude but I knew I had already mentioned to her about my situation so I said, "Oh Zeny!  Thanks so much for bringing these but did you remember that I can't have any sugar?"  She smiled and said, "Look Closer?"  "These treats are Non Dairy, Gluten Free, Non GMO, Sugarless, Vegan Protein Veggie Chips!"  Can you say that three times fast??  I had to laugh and then jump up to give her a big hug.  I thought it was so sweet of her to not only bring a bag from me but to bring a bag for herself sacrificing her normal delectable sugary treat.  What a thoughtful gesture from a true friend.  Since her face lit up for Non- Dairy, Gluten Free, Non GMO, Sugarless, Vegan Protein Veggie Chips, I realized it was her love of sharing that made her eyes twinkle and not the treat itself!

It was such a SWEET TREAT to stamp with Zeny that day.  We had a ball coming up with projects for our July Inspiration Night.  We created 4 piggy cards that will sit inside of a pig pen box.  I look forward to sharing these cards at the end of next month.  Till then, here's one of the cards that didn't make the cut but we thought was super cute.

If you have followed my stamping style you will know that over the years I've converted many of our Stampin' Up! images to represent pineapples and hula girls.  So, the thought came to mind when I saw the adorable pig from This Little Piggy that maybe it would work with one of the Piggy images too.  So I used some punches to dress up this image and this is what I created.

Hula Piggy - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Hula Piggy - www.stampedwithaloha.com

I used the leaves from the Lemon Builder punch (cut in half) for the hula skirt and the flower from the Tree Builder punch to make a Haku Lei.  The pig was stamped on Powder Pink card stock and cut out and adhered to the card with our new Mini Dimensionals which I LOVE.

For the background I used a piece of our sassy and shiny new Foil Frenzy Designer Series Paper and this was the final outcome.

I think this is the perfect card to send to Zeny to thank her for coming over and not only stamping with me but being so thoughtful to bring such a healthy treat to share with me while we worked.  Zeny's kind gesture and thoughtfulness really did make me happy.  It's sweet, caring and thoughtful people like Zeny who truly do make the world a more beautiful place.
