Love and Hope

Yesterday I spent time in my stamp room working on swap cards that I had designed for my monthly inspiration night.  The theme was soft subtles so I chose to create a card featuring two of my favorite soft subtle colors, Marina Mist and Pear Pizzaz.

I used the stamp set Special Reason to create the floral background and the sentiment "You're In my Thoughts and Prayers" came from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set.  I layered the sentiment on one of the square stitched shape framelits that have quickly become a favorite in my stamp room.

As I was making this card I got a phone call from a friend who was sad.  I spoke with her for a long time and my heart just broke for her because she was really going through a tough time.  I had the opportunity to pray for her but her pain was so deep that when I hung up the phone I just felt so burdened for her and wish I could have done more to lift her spirits.

I know that the best thing I can do for my friend right now is to continue to pray for her and let her know I am here if she needs me.

I am glad that this was the card I made for my swap because I was able to use an extra one I had to write her a thoughtful note to mail her this week so she know that she is not forgotten.

We send cards for all types of occasions, birthdays, thank you's, anniversaries, graduations, etc but I think its the unexpected blessing of receiving a "thinking of you" card that means the most especially when people are struggling, feeling alone or discouraged.

Who do you know that needs a word of encouragment today?  You have the ability to make a difference by praying for them and offering words of love and hope!

Let's take our hand stamped creations and use them to do just that!  Let's continue to spread aloha, one stamp at a time.

Happy Mail

There's nothing quite like opening up your mail box and finding Happy Mail.  I know some of you know exactly what I'm talking about.  Its under the bills, newspaper and magazines and when you find it, it brings a smile to your face before you even open it.  Especially when it comes at a time when its not a special occasion and arrives just to let you know you are thought of, loved and missed.  Well that happened to me this week and now I get to share my Happy Mail blessings with you.

Here are the two special cards I received in the mail this week.  The first was this fun flamingo card created by Kim Williams with our new set Pop of Paradise.  Kim was making a bunch of pink and black cards for her blog, pinkpineapplepapercrafts and because she remembered that pink and black are one of my favorite color combinations she decided to make a card for me.

I talk to Kim every week, at times almost every other day and we talk a lot about the projects we are working on.   Kim calls me Hula Girl, we share a fondness for pineapples and she is one of the most beautiful persons I know, inside and out.  When we talked last week Kim didn't let it slip that she had dropped this card in the mail for me and that made for an even more wonderful surprise.  I love Kim's Style.  She is really into layering card stock and embellishments, yet on this card she layers with ink and the flamingos are stamped in such a way that it appears there is a whole pink flamingo family marching over to say hello!  I love this card, and even more than that, the kind hearted friend that took the time to let me know she was thinking of me.

The second card I received was created by my friend Lynsay Mahon of Cloud9Stampers.  Lynsay made this card with a Hostess set appropriately called Love You Lots, cause that is exactly how I feel about her.  Leave it to Lynsay to send me a card with a set I didn't think I wanted and now have to get!!!  I love her use of Pop of Pink Washi Tape that comes from our new Pop of Pink Suite on pages 84 and 85 of our new catalog.  The personalized message comes from our new Thoughtful Banners stamp set that allows you to choose over 45 different word combinations to create your own customized message.  I love this card and agree that even though I just cruised with Lynsay and her family I am missing her already,

But it could be that as we were sipping  on our Cappuccinos in France a couple weeks ago that we decided on a grand plan that would allow us to get together VERY soon and for that I am grateful and very excited.

In the midst of a very busy week, it was wonderful to receive Happy Mail from these two beautiful women.  They inspire me and I hope to pass it forward and send some unexpected Happy Mail of my own in the very near future.

Why not do that yourself?  Who comes to your mind today as you read this post?  Why not drop a surprise card in the mail to them just to let them know that you were thinking about them.  This certainly will make them Happy and that is something that our world is really in need of,   So bust out your ink and paper and spread some joy, encouragement and hope in an unexpected hand stamped card and you will be certain to make someone Happy!
