The Best Things In Life Are SWEET!

Bunco was extra sweet in August because our theme was Baker's Dozen Bunco which featured the Sweet Cupcake stamp set bundle.

The party favors I created for this event was a small matchbook that featured a triple stamped cupcake on the front.  I created the cupcake liner by cutting a piece of silver foil out with a coordinating Thinlit that I had previously scored on my simply scored tool.  I loved how it made it look like an actual silver cupcake liner.

The mini staple on the front not only held the matchbook together but also added a little silver sparkle embellishment to coordinate with the cupcake liner.

The inside of the favor held a small package of custom made "from the kitchen of" stickers that my friend Goldie made.  Each sticker had a different cupcake image on it.  I love the inside sentiment too which completes the sentence, "the best things in life are sweet and you're one of the sweetest".

Our Aloha Prize was really delicious this month.  I asked my friend Corren of Charney's Cupcakes and Treats to bake white cupcakes with pink frosting.  I told her I only needed four for the Aloha prize.   Since Corren is a thoughtful and creative genius, she showed up not only with the four cupcakes but with a whole bunch of mini cupcakes so that everyone could sample and enjoy her amazing bake of the day..

I took the four large cupcakes and wrapped a belly band around them with a matching design so all would coordinate together to make the Baker's Dozen Bunco the best ever.  I had to tell the ladies that they had to be careful when passing this around during the game as there are some (and I won't mention any names) who like to hide the Aloha Prize under their clothes or in their purse, so lets just say, that was not possible with this month's prize.

There were so many elements that made this month's bunco extra sweet and special.

First, doesn't Teresa look as "Cute as a Cupcake" in her adorable black and pink t-shirt that matched our cupcake theme perfectly.

Other people made it extra sweet too.  First there was Jen my sister in law from Washington State (Go Hawks) who took time out of her vacation to come over and play with us.  She hosts Bunco at her home too so it was fun to have her attend mine and bring along her daughter Rachel too.

Another sweet moment is when Serena surprised all of us with a special gift.  You see her birthday was coming up so she and her Mom made these adorable cupcake favors created out of wash clothes and brought one for everyone who played on Sunday afternoon.

What a sweet gesture from two amazingly kind, sweet and thoughtful friends.

Rox came early to help me set up.   I had shared with her how I had just been to Dole Plantation and learned that you are supposed to WASH pineapples before you eat them.  I have a feeling that Is that something that everyone in the world knew except me?  The one whose home is filled with pineapples!   It makes sense that when you wash the pineapple it removes the acid so if you ever eat a pineapple and it hurts your mouth then you know it didn't get washed.  Roxanne also scrubbed the pineapple gently with Hawaiian Salt as she washed it and it made it taste so nice.  Nice and sweet just like the one who prepared it.   But don't let her fool you.... she may look very demure and reserved but...

she can make quite the entrance when she wins a prize, which as you can see she did at this month's event.

Rox is SUCH a huge blessing to me  She is one of those people who overflows with the Aloha Spirit that makes Hawaii so special.

Of course this post wouldn't be complete without a picture of the "Kolohe" sisters (just missing Liane).  This was prior to the game, looks like someone was faint with hunger and the line wasn't moving fast enough or maybe Terry and Anna was trying to get Lori to wash her hands as there was some hysterical laughter during the game that had something to do with the washing of hands! I didn't want to ask!  All I do know is these ladies are GREAT and they always bring me so much JOY and entertainment too.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy these fun times with such amazing people who bless my home with love and aloha and lots of laughter each month.  I feel so blessed and agree that the best things in life are SWEET and I'm so thankful for all of these who came to play bunco in August.  Time spent with them truly was the SWEETEST!!!

Sweet Cupcake Belated Birthday

For the past several years during the middle of July I have traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah for the Stampin' Up! Convention.  One of the things I would always remember is to bring with me is a birthday card for my friend Lisa whose birthday is at the end of July.

Lisa and I are both Stampin' Up! demonstrators in the same family tree.  To put it in business terms, we are side-lines once removed or something like that.  We've known each other for years and have both worked together to help support each others businesses.  It seems like yesterday that we were shopping for straw hats to help motivate one another to stay on track to earn our first cruise.  Wow, that was a long time ago and since then we've both been tremendously blessed to have earned the opportunity to  travel together all over the world with Stampin' Up!  God is so good!

I have fond memories of our kids spending time on the cruise ships together and having all kinds of funny adventures which have provided for lots of inside jokes between them that they share often and still laugh about to this day.

Lisa also has a super supportive and talented husband named Bob.  He is talented because he can fix or build just about anything with a role of duct tape and his eyes blindfolded.  We've experienced some funny adventures with Bob when our families have traveled together.   You see he often wanders off which is why the phrase, "Where's Bob" is repeated often on our travels.

Perhaps, that is why I am hanging him on to him in this photo at Convention last summer.  Someone has to keep track of where he's at!

With the companies recent changes in their event schedule we no longer have Convention in July.  So this year as I reminisced about all the people and things I miss about the Convention experience, I remembered that I wouldn't have the opportunity to hand deliver Lisa's card as I have in years past.

This could be a problem but I chose to think of it as the perfect opportunity to use one of our cute "belated" birthday stamps to create her card.

This card was made with our new Sweet Cupcake stamp set which comes with a little "belated" stamp that you can add if you had to and since I was a week late in sending her card, it was definitely needed.  I stamped and cut out three candles and added a layer of glue from our fine tip glue pen to create a 3D look (a tip I learned from Kim Williams), which I think made them look super realistic.  This card also features the product I have been talking about all week, the oh so Fabulous Foil Acetate, this time showing a cute polka dot pattern.  Finally I took a "bite" out of the cupcake to add to the character of this card being late.

This "bite" was done with the Blossom Punch but it was tempting to just bite it myself since this cupcake is so realistic.  Did you know that this artwork was actually created after an actual cupcake that someone at the home office at Stampin' Up! baked?

Well, "Happy Be-lated Birthday Greetings" to my friend Lisa.  I hope she received my card before she reads this post!  But at least she will know that late or not she was thought of on her special day.

Remember on Saturday I will be giving away blog candy (via a drawing) to one person who comments on this post or any of the last two posts that I talked about our Fabulous Foil Acetate.  The persons name I draw will be receiving a sampler pack of this fabulous product and I'll announce the winner in my next post.

I hope you liked this card and if you ever find yourself in a bind like I was of being a little late to wish someone a Happy Birthday you can use this cute set and help the recipients celebration last a little longer.
