"Brusho-ed" Blessings!

At our March Inspiration Night we were blessed to have a very special guest, my very sweet friend Lynsay Mahon.  As you may know from my previous post, Lynsay and her daughter were here during Spring Break.  The timing of Lynsay's visit was perfect because I had my monthly downline Inspiration Night scheduled during the time she was here.  That meant that all my downline and stamping sisters could have an opportunity to be inspired and learn from the best.

Lynsay opened by sharing her Stampin' Up! story.   It was fun to hear about the first workshop she hosted for her Mom.  Lynsay did it as a favor to her Mom but really had no interest in stamping! After having the opportunity to see the products and spend time looking through the catalog, she decided to join!  Her Mom was surprised and delighted to have her daughter as a new recruit.

Lynsay set goals early and created a plan to really work the business.  With much hard work on her part she rose to be the number one demonstrator in Canada on more than one occasion.  Lynsay has also earned many other top honors, awards and incentive trips throughout the 15 years she has been with Stampin' Up!

Lynsay is such an excellent speaker.  We were all inspired by what she shared about the Stampin' Up! experience.

After she shared Lynsay began to lead us in a technique class that featured Brusho.  Brusho is one of our newest products, it is watercolor crystals.  Lynsay showed us how to use it in many different ways.

Here are the projects Lynsay shared with us.

When you use the Brusho Watercolor Crystals on your projects, it is fun to watch the color burst and come alive when you activate them with water,

Let me share with you a closer look at the Brusho techniques Lynsay taught us.

For card number one we took a Thank You stamp from the "Thankful Thoughts" stamp set and stamped it on a piece of Shimmery White Card Stock using a Black Archival stamp pad.  We then took the Blue Brusho and sprinkled it around the stamped words.  To make the Brush spread we spritzed water on top and then watched the magic happen.  The colors spread in a random pattern.  If you don't like the color, you can add more.  If it didn't spread enough, just add more water.

If you don't like the pattern, you can even use an aqua painter to move the color around.

Each card will come out looking unique and different.  Since Perfect White accents were the featured embellishment of the night we added a few on each project.

It's important to let the card stock dry before adhering it  You can either let it dry naturally or use a heat tool to speed up the process.  If the card stock curls because it was saturated with a lot of water then after it dries use Tear N Tape to the back to stick it down.

For the next project we stamped a heart from the "Sure Do Love You" stamp set.  We then sprinkled a line of red Brusho crystals across the top of the Shimmery White Card Stock.  We carefully placed a wet baby wipe over the crystals and then dragged the color across the card to create the look below.

Project number three was made with our Shimmery Embossing Paste.  We took one of our decorative masks and laid it over the corner of the shimmery card stock.  Then we took a pallet knife and spread a thin layer of embossing paste over the mask.  We removed and cleaned the mask right away so that the quick drying paste would not be permanently stuck to the mask. Then we sprinkled some Brusho over the embossed area and sprayed it with water the same way we did on the first card.

I think it came out beautiful, don't you?

The final project was this cute lemonade holder.

For this project Lynsay showed how you can use brusho to create colorful sheets of paper by combining colors and spritzing them with water.  You can also use an aqua painter to make a unique design with the crystals as you brush them around the card stock.  After the paper dries you have uniquely colored card stock that you can use with your punches.  I just love the little speckles that are on the leaves that give them character.

We used the Lemon Builder Punch to create this cute lemon that is the focal point of this fun project.

There was so much positive feedback this month I definitely want to find a way to have Lynsay come back and share with us again in the future.

As I drove Lynsay to the airport later that evening she told me how blessed I was to have such lovely ladies on my team.  I am glad she witnessed first hand all of the aloha we share when we are together.

False Alarm

A few days ago while having lunch with a friend I was told that one of my stamping sisters had unexpectedly passed away.  I was stunned.  This girl was young and healthy and so full of life the last time I had spoken to her.  As I continued to hear about the situation something didn't feel right to me,  After all, hadn't I just spoken to her recently?  I did some research to discover that my stamping sister was alive!  It turned out that there was a miscommunication and although sadly someone died, it was not my friend.

This reminded me of the false alarm we experienced in the state of Hawaii just a few days prior.  Early on a Saturday morning, we received alerts our phones telling us to seek shelter immediately because a bomb was headed our way and it was not a drill.

In both cases, there was a 10 to 15 minute period of time where everything stopped.  I began to think of my family and friends.  Had I been there when they needed me?  Had I told them how much I loved them or even more importantly did I remind them how much God loved them?  Going through this experience made me want to work harder at showing my love and appreciation for those God brings across my path.

When I held my first stamp a stack class for the new year, I was so happy to see everyone!    Hugging them all a little tighter that morning.

Dene is holding the first card we made at class.  It was a thank you card.   What an appropriate place to start because of all the thankfulness I was feeling that morning.  Especially for people like Dene who has been such a wonderful customer and friend to me for many, many years.

Here is a close up of the card.

This card featured a lot of brand new product.  I used the Scattered Sequins dynamic textured impressions folder for texture.  I colored the roses with our new Stampin' Blends. The stamp is new as well, its called Petal Palette and has coordinating designer paper called Petal Passion.  In fact, this gorgeous black and white paper was the featured product in my class and could be seen on all my samples that day.

The next card gave me another opportunity to show the Stampin Blends on a sweet card made with our new set called Bird Banter.  Everyone really seemed to enjoy coloring the birds for this cute birthday card.

I love the sentiment on this card and the cute little hat you can add to any image in the set.

I also love the bold black and white print of the Petal Passion designer paper.  It is great for masculine cards.

The next card we created was a Valentine Card.

I used it for the first time at my Stamp a Stack class to create this Valentine card with the Sure Do Love You stamp set.  Cheryl, pictured above with her friend Wray, said she can't wait to get her own Stamparatus.

This tool costs $49 and will be available soon.  If you would like me to put your name on a waiting list to get one, like Cheryl did, let me know.

My final card of the class featured not only the Petal Passion Designer Paper but also my favorite Saleabration stamp set called Party Pandas.

Just look at all my panda loving friends who are equally excited about this adorable set that you can earn for FREE with a $50 order.

Aren't these narrow note cards cute?  They are new and they come with cute envelopes.  The sentiments on the two outside cards is from the Petal Pallette stamp set.  The "just for you" on the inside card comes from the Sure Do Love You set.  I love to show how versatile our products are by using them on multiple projects.

Our class came to an end with a very unexpected surprise.  Two of my long time downline and stamping sisters who live in the mainland came over to visit me!!!!  I love these ladies and felt so blessed that they were both here at the same time.

Laura and Mary are in Hawaii!!!

Laura and Mary are in Hawaii!!!

It was wonderful to have them here,  especially because of what I had just experienced with the false alarms.  It gave me the opportunity to share with both of them how grateful I was for their love and friendship.

Both of these false alarms resulted in the same conclusion, I know that God is in control.  My life is in His hands.  I was created to love Him and to show that love to others.  I am thankful that He has surrounded me with wonderful family and friends.  Grateful, that He has blessed me with the opportunity to share what I love and love what I do.

Sure Do Love You

One of my Mom's favorite florists on Oahu is Flowers by Jr. Lou and T.  Through the years I have seen my Mom purchase and give roses from them to celebrate many special occasions.    My Mom loves flowers but hasn't been there for years because she no longer drives that far from her home.

So today as I passed by this florist, I stopped to buy flowers for a very special occasion.  You see, today is my parent's 64th Wedding Anniversary.

I don't like spray paint on flowers but they had some really unique roses there that were blue but had not been spray painted.  They even had some rainbow colored ones that were interesting.  The kind lady who waited on me said that the person who grows them has a special technique to color them this way.  I chose a blue bouquet because blue is my Mom's favorite color.

It was these blue flowers that inspired the anniversary card I made for my parents.

This stamp set that the sentiment comes from is called "Happy Wishes" and is one that you can get for free during saleabration when you place a qualifying order.  The solid heart and outline heart comes from the set "Sure Do Love You" which is a great set to purchase to make Valentine's cards for next month.  I used my favorite tree punch to create tiny blue flowers to embellish the front of this anniversary card and adorned each one with a jewel rhinestone.

Mom and Dad

Mom and Dad

My parents have taught me so many valuable life lessons.  When I had a dorm room fire in college and lost everything it was my Dad who told me that true value is not in things but only in our relationship with Christ which is eternal.  Although my Dad no longer is able to tell his funny stories or offer words of wisdom he still teaches me about life in the way despite his health challenges he smiles.  My Mom also just amazes me in the way she so lovingly cares for my Dad.  It is such hard work and she is so strong.  She has set such a great example to me in the way she selflessly cares for my Dad day in and day out.

I am grateful to celebrate my parents on their anniversary today.  They are truly an inspiration to me.

Happy 64th Anniversary Dad and Mom!  I sure do love you and am so grateful to God for blessing me with such amazing parents.
