You Brighten My Day

It's ALOHA Friday and I wanted to share with you a card that I made for my Inspiration Night this past Tuesday.  We had a "Bright" card swap and this is what I came up with.

Cookie Cutter Christmas Surfer Boy - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Cookie Cutter Christmas Surfer Boy - www.stampedwithaloha.com

This punch art Surfer Boy card was made using some of our newest products combined with some oldies but goodies.  The surfer boy was made with our new Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  I LOVE this punch and the coordinating stamp set Cookie Cutter Christmas that it is bundled with.

The Surf Board was made from our new Layering Oval Framelits.

All of the stamping I did came from an older stamp set called Sunburst Sayings.  I added a bright sun with our 2" circle punch and some textured sand using our Softly Falling textured embossing folder.

It's FALL here in Hawaii but this card is still appropriate because surfing is something we can do year round and its actually in the winter that it's great fun to travel to the North Shore to watch the big wave surfers in action.

I miss the falling leaves and cool crisp autumn air but I wouldn't trade it for the beauty of this island that I am blessed to call home.  It's a place filled with beautiful people who continually brighten my day with the warm aloha spirit they share everywhere they go.

Happy Aloha Friday Everyone!

Sushi Celebration

I have a wonderful friend named Karin.  As you can see we have something in common, we both are HUGE Seattle Seahawks fans.

We haven't had a lot of time to spend together recently so on Friday morning last week Karin called to see if I wanted to meet her for coffee.  I had to decline because I had a bunch of card stock to cut and collate for a class the next day.  Karin, being the awesome friend and sister that she is offered to come over and help.

As we chatted that morning she told me that after leaving my home she was going to be running errands to get ready for her husband Jay's birthday.  I asked if she needed a card as I wanted to do something to return the favor of her coming to help me and she said, "yes".

I asked her if there was any certain type of card she wanted for Jay and since Jay is a major foodie and sushi lover she suggested a sushi card.  So within a few minutes this is what I came up with.

The circle was cut from the retired Circle Framelit collection.  The texture was made with the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder.  The Crumb Cake texture was made with the Petal burst Embossing Folder and the other pieces were either punched with punches or cut with a paper cutter to resemble fish eggs, cucumber, egg and imitation crab.

I didn't know if it would pass the approval of such a Sushi connoisseur cause as you can see from the photo below Jay really appreciates food, especially this wonderful spread he enjoyed with his missions team in Japan a couple years ago.

Here's another photo of the card so you can see its a bit smaller than a regular card.   However, its still large enough to write a Happy Birthday Message inside or include a gift card to Jay's favorite Sushi Restaurant.

I heard that Jay and his family had a wonderful celebration!  They spent time together eating sushi and celebrating Jay who is a wonderful Husband, Father, Friend, Businessman, Leader, Counselor, Entrepreneur and Foodie Extroidenaire!

I guess the card met his approval because it looked good enough to eat!

Happy Birthday Jay!  I hope your Sushi Celebration was memorable and that you felt overwhelmingly blessed on your special day!

Eagle Scout Birthday

This week my nephew Jacob is visiting Hawaii with his family.  This is Jacob's first trip to Hawaii and he will be celebrating his 17th birthday here on Wednesday.  We have been having fun showing him around the island and taking him to a few of our favorite places.

On Friday, I took Jacob and his family to hike at Manoa Falls Trail.  As you can see from the photo below Jacob looks quite happy.  I can't tell if he's giving 2 thumbs up or a double shaka!  Either way it's good to know he is having fun!

We got a little rained on which sometimes happens when you are hiking through a beautiful tropical rainforest but that didn't hinder the fun and adventure.

On Saturday we did an island tour and drove all around this beautiful island.  We stopped along the way to visit our favorite places.

My favorite scenic spot on the island is right here at Makapu'u Point.  I think I've taken this same picture every time we stop here but it never grows old.

When passing through Kailua Town we made sure to introduce Jacob to "the Local Hawaii" shave ice.  If you haven't tried it, you need to get out there. It's SO good!  The toppings are all natural and it makes for the most delicious shave ice with the most interesting flavors you have ever tried.

Doesn't Jacob's Mango and Lilikoi Shave Ice look good?  My favorite flavor is GINGER!  Next time you're in Kailua town don't miss shopping at The Local Hawaii, it's a hidden treasure.

Tonight we took Jacob to dinner at Roy's because we love to celebrate special occasions there.  We had an amazing dinner and enjoyed being together as a family.

They brought Jacob a special dessert and we all sang to him.  As you can see he is also wearing a lei we gave him because that is a tradition we always do to honor whoever we are celebrating.

I wasn't sure what kind of card to make for Jacob but I remembered that he had recently become an Eagle Scout so I thought I would incorporate that into his birthday card design.  I went to the National Eagle Scout of America page and downloaded an Eagle Scout emblem.  I printed it out onto card stock and ran it through my big shot with the Balloon Framelit.  Here is the completed card.

I really like how this came out.  I simply cut out three different ballons and added some sentiments from the stamp set, Sunburst Sayings.  I also added a piece of the Fabulous Foil Acetate because just like the beautiful look out at Makapu'u point, it never grows old.  I LOVE this product and need to order more because I'm getting used to putting it on all my creations.

It was wonderful to celebrate with Jacob here in Hawaii.  I'm glad he was happy with this special card I created for him.

Happy Birthday Eagle Scout, we are very proud of YOU!
