Cookie Cutter Creations

Tuesday night was my monthly Inspiration Night and I was really excited to share some fun Cookie Cutter Christmas Creations with all who attended.  The unique thing about this class is that I showed how to take a holiday stamp set and use it to create cards for other occasions!  I also paired Cookie Cutter Christmas with Suite Sayings so that only two stamp sets were used to create all of these cards with the exception of one additional stamp from Jolly Friends but I'll tell you about that in a minute.  Another common element of these cards is that they all use Candy Cane Lane Designer Series paper and they are also all embellished with various sizes of pearls.

For now, let's take a closer look at this fun boxed set of note cards.

The box itself is made of one of our clear mount stamp cases.  These cases are perfect for holding note card sized cards.  The layered circle on the front is from the Circles Collection framelits.  I love that this collection has both scallop circles and plain circles.  Layering the circles, as shown below,  makes a perfect background area for the focal point of a project,

Our first card was a birthday card with the same "pig tail" design that I shared about in my last post.  You can create pig tails by stamping the gingerbread man twice and then on one of them cutting the arm pieces and attaching them to the head with glue dots.  Two pearl buttons were added for dimension and texture.

The next card is a baby card.  Isn't this bear sweet?

When you create the bear you have to stamp the ears first and then the bear on a separate piece of card stock that gets punched out with the coordinating punch and layered over the top where you align it with the stamped ears.

The next card is one of my favorites.  When I was designing it I had a Tom Cruise movie playing in my stamp room.  In the movie Tom was wearing sunglasses and looking sharp.  Suddenly, I was inspired to put sun glasses  and a black tie on this gingerbread man so I drew some glasses with a sharpie pen.  However, just prior to hosting this class I received the stamp set Jolly Friends and I realized that the glasses in that set are the PERFECT fit for this guy so that is how I added an additional stamp set to this class.   Thanks to Tom for being my inspiration for this hand stamped creation!

Doesn't he look handsome and successful with his black tie and cool glasses?  These ladies at Inspiration Night certainly thought so.

I saved the BEST for last.  This punch art creation has been in my stamp room for weeks but I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it on a card.   This card was definitely the most work but also the one that everyone got the most excited about as you can see below.

I just love this sweet mermaid.  She is made of punches.  Here is what you need.

The body, hair, bangs and mouth - Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  The hair and small flower - Tree Builder Punch.  The tail - Jolly Hat Builder Punch.  The end of the tail and shells - Holly Berry Punch.  The Large Flower - Blossom Builder Punch.

The Fabulous Foil Acetate is perfect for this card but it can be challenging to punch it out so either trace and cut it with scissors or if you want to punch it here are some tips.  First, remove the thin layer that covers the acetate.  Place a piece of copy  paper over and under the acetate before punching it to strengthen it and avoid getting it stuck in the punch.

Everyone's card came out a little bit different.  The way people angled the hair or placed the pearls all gave each Mermaid a different personality.

I loved seeing all these beautiful Mermaids come to life and loved even more watching how great of a time everyone had as they created this card.

I think the two who had the most fun where these two ladies below, Terry and Lori.

Lori took off her jacket and placed it on Terry's head to resemble the long red hair of the Mermaid that we all know she is at heart.  I think the photo and caption below, says it all!

In addition to making these fabulous projects the ladies all swapped some amazing Cookie Cutter Christmas swaps.  I don't normally host a swap that features a single stamp set but everyone in my group purchased this set because they loved it, so it was the perfect time to host an swap themed after a stamp set.

Everyone made such beautiful cards and watching them share them with one another was wonderful.

Of course we were also spoiled by Chef Craig's delicious dinner.  Tonight we had curry stew, rice and salad.  Craig takes such amazing care of us every month as he blesses us with his God given talent for preparing food that is created and served with aloha.

It is always so much fun to gather for my monthly Inspiration Night.  I love my Stamped With Aloha sisters who are so much fun to spend time with, even the "kolohe" (rascal) ones pictured below.

It was great to see all the smiling faces and know our time together was filled with inspiration, creativity, encouragement, fun and lots of aloha amongst us stamping sisters and friends.

Dad's Birthday

My Dad turned 84 today.  It is an incredible blessing for me to celebrate him today.  He hasn't had it easy the past few years but you would never know it because he is always smiling, always positive, always full of love.

My Dad has struggled recently with Dementia so communicating with him is not what it used to be.  He used to be such a social butterfly and although sometimes he still tries, processing words is something that he struggles with.  It's been hard to see him in this condition and especially to see the struggle my Mom faces on a daily basis but it has also been encouraging to see how he remains happy and positive and my Mom remains strong.  I believe it is their faith in the Lord that is helping them in this season.

Celebrating Dad's Birthday at Aulani

We began our morning taking Dad to Aulani for breakfast.  As soon as we got out of our car and the hotel staff saw my dad wearing leis and holding a balloon, they made a birthday button for him to wear.

As we walked through the hotel property he was embraced with birthday greetings from each hotel employee he passed as well as hotel guests and even Mickey and Donald waved as they passed by.  It is so wonderful to have such a beautiful Disney hotel so close to home, it is one of our most favorite places to celebrate with breakfast!

Since my Dad also has challenges when he eats, we ordered him a small single pancake.  But when our food came he was presented with this stack of fluffy pancakes and our kind server said, "Mickey wanted you to have these instead".  Although he couldn't communicate, the look on his face let us know that he was very blessed by this sweet gesture.

After we ate I gave my Dad the card I had created for him.  It is a fancy fold card that I made in colors to match one of the newest Starbucks Gift Cards that you'll see on the inside of this card in the next photo.  The dimensions of this card are,  4 1/4 x 11 and I scored it at 4 and 7 1/4.  Here is what is looks like when it is open.

We had a funny moment when I gave my Dad this card.  My Dad carefully opened up the card and began to read the message I had written inside.  The last line I wrote was "Happy 84th Birthday".  When my Dad discovered his age, his eyes got really big and he exclaimed, "84", "I'm 84"????????

and then he broke out into a hysterical laughter, the same laughter that is so contagious and has made us all laugh and smile for years.

It was a special morning.   We enjoyed time with Dad with this incredible view from our table.

I was able to bless him with a card I had stamped with aloha and one that made him laugh and smile.

You see my Dad can't talk like he used to, he doesn't always remember my name but his Spirit has never changed.  He can still sing along with the Gaither's when I play their music in the car and he remembers the words.   He can still pray and thank God before our meals, something he does automatically.  He can still laugh and smile and set a good example of someone that knows that the joy of the Lord is their strength.

March Stamp A Stack

For this month's stamp a stack class I featured the stamp set (140712) Suite Sayings.  Each of the cards pictured below feature a sentiment from this fabulous stamp set.

March Stamp A Stack - www.stampedwithaloha.com

March Stamp A Stack - www.stampedwithaloha.com

The first card featured this adorable Easter lamb.  Although I didn't take a photo of the inside, it had the Easter sentiment from Suite Sayings which read, "Wishing you all the beautiful blessings of Easter".

If my customers didn't want to make an Easter card then there were several different options from Suite Sayings that could be used to express a different sentiment that would still work great with this cute image.

The next card featured our (138284) Project Life Paper Clip Thinlets.  These clips make adorable smiley faces by simply drawing eyes on them with a project life pen.  Love how perfect this saying matches this card.

In addition to featuring Suite Sayings, I also demonstrated two cards with the (140511) Friends and Flowers Stamp Set and (139682) Festive Flowers Builder Punch.  The first was this gold fish birthday card.

Friends and Family Goldfish Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

I created waves on this card by punching the top of the card stock with a large circle punch.

My final card was my favorite.  I used the Friends and Flowers set to create this cute bunny card.  Since the saying I chose from Suite Sayings said the words "peek-a-boo" I wanted to make the bunny look like he was doing just that, playing peek-a-boo.

I used the word window punch to create the paws and I just placed them over the bunny's face.  This was by far my favorite card of the stack.   Since my customers create 3 cards of each design at my stack I decided to provide an alternate design using the exact same products.  Here is what I came up with.

Friends and Flowers Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

This card shows the alternate for the bunny.  Rather than use the jeweled flower, I added one of the cute bow clips that fit perfectly on this bunny's head.  I love giving my customers options so that everyone can make their own choices of what layout they like best.

This was a really fun class to teach and I got a lot of great compliments from those who attended. Although Stampin' Up! offers a wide variety of different styles of stamped images, I am really drawn to the sweet and cute ones.   All who attended this class left very happy with their creations and seeing people happy with the outcome always makes me feel happy too.

I hope you were inspired by these fun creations.   If there are any of these items you are interested in purchasing remember Saleabration is ending in two days so don't delay, contact me to place your final Saleabration orders right away.

I've already designed next months Stack cards and I can't WAIT to share them with you.  I am planning on having a very special "I'm Bringing Birthday Cards Back Stack" at the end of April that you won't want to miss.

I hope you all had a happy and blessed Easter and I will look forward to sharing some more projects with you this week.

Until Then, Happy Stampin',

Cindy
