Today is the 47th birthday of one of my dearest friends, Alec. We met at our church, New Hope Leeward, back in 2004 where I was privileged to serve under his leadership on the worship team. He is such a gifted and talented person and so much fun to be around. The thing that I appreciate most about him is his wisdom. Whenever I call him for advise he won't just give me an answer but will walk me through a process to help me learn and grow. I love that his heart is to "make a difference" and that is something I know he not only does in my life but in the lives of everyone he encounters.
Our families spent time together on New Years Eve and went to see Star Wars. Since Star Wars is so popular right now, I thought I'd try and make a Star Wars themed card for him.
I decided on Yoda, not just cause it was probably the easiest "Punch Art" character to put together but also cause Yoda is full of wisdom and a heart to teach others, just like my friend Alec! Did I mention he is a teacher by profession?
Here is the card I created for him.
Our newest Going Places designer paper provided the perfect background for this punch art Yoda card. The Yoda was made with several different punches except for the large circle that I made with a framelet. I ran the top part of the circle card stock through the decorative dot embossing folder to add texture and used a sponge to add some highlights around the edges. I was happy with the outcome and hope Alec will like it too.
I don't know where my life would be without my "Twin Brother From Another Mother". I am so grateful for him and the influence he has had not only in my life but in the life of my family too.
Alec doesn't serve with us in worship anymore because he is one of the speaking Pastors at our church. I miss not singing with him and miss his leadership over our team but I am grateful that so many more people get to experience his excellent leadership and like me are challenged to learn and grow from the messages he shares.
Happy Birthday to my Wise Friend Alec!
As Yoda would say, "Your Birthday It Is.... WISE you have Become, So CELEBRATE You Must."
