Smitten Celebration

The past two weeks have been filled with so much excitement and adventure.  I am not quite sure where to begin.  When I wrote last I was in Utah at the On Stage Convention which was an amazing event.  That trip was followed by a girls getaway to one of my favorite cities, New York.  I have lots of things to share about both of these adventures but for today, let me start at the beginning with my team kick off party in Salt Lake City.

Every time I attend a large Stampin' Up! event, I host a themed Kick off party for my downline.  This year I partnered with my two friends Kim and Linda and we all invited our downline to share a special "breakfast" party with a Mitten theme.   Our Warm and Fuzzy celebration featured the stamp set SMITTEN and we asked each guest to come wearing their favorite scarf.

This year there were 5 of us from my Stamped With Aloha team who gathered together in Salt Lake.  Some of these ladies live in the mainland so it is always a blessing to have this special time with them.

In this photo you can see a mitten banner I made as a centerpiece for the party.  This banner was created with the Smitten stamp set and coordinating framelits.  The mittens are double sided so when this was hung in the middle of our table, it looked beautiful from both sides.

Kim, Linda and I all took part in creating projects for our team party.  Linda made these adorable Smitten bag tags that were personalized on the back with each persons name.

The cute Santa tag pictured below Linda's was a surprise blessing from Kathy.

It was very thoughtful of Kathy to bless everyone with an unexpected gift.  These tags were given to several people Kathy had never met before but when we gather as demonstrators its always an opportunity to meet people who will become lifelong friends.

Kim made these adorable hot cocoa jars.  They were created with mini mason jars that had been filled with hot chocolate and mini marshmallows.  I love these tiny red mittens that coordinated with the red and white mittens that were at each persons place setting.

At the start of the party, we played an ice breaker game that gave us all an opportunity to get to know each other a little more.

We also played the game Left, Right, Center with snowflakes. Our prize was an oven mitt that was filled with Stampin' Up! product.

We surprised everyone at the party by having Zeny share a special hula.

It's not everyday that you have a real hula girl with over 30 years experience in your midst!  We were all blessed as she shared her beautiful gift of dance.

One of the highlights of our party was our themed swap.  Here is the card I made, which is also a part of my Stamp A Stack class this month.

This simple card shows two beautiful embossing folders, the snowflake is from our new Winter Wonder Textured Impressions folder and the red sweater impression is from our Cable Knit 3D Dynamic Impressions folder.  It's hard to tell from the photo but there is a silver foil circle behind the red starburst circle.  The white snowflake was also impressed on glossy card stock so it created added shine to this warm and fuzzy greeting card.

I created a mini clear treat box to match my swap to give as a gift to my downline.  Each year I give them a charm to commemorate the event.  At this years gathering they received a mitten charm.

I hope when they wear it they will remember the Warm and Fuzzy Celebration we shared together and that it will bring a smile to their face.

Just thinking about this event and the friends who were a part of it, makes me smile today.   I feel so blessed that God has allowed me to be a part of such an amazing company where I have the opportunity to be surrounded by such loving people who so freely share their gifts of inspiration and creativity.

Plans are already in the works for our 30th anniversary party in Orlando next November.   I look forward to another fun celebration with my amazing stamping sisters who have become lifelong friends!

Thank You Cards

Last week several of my stampin sisters and I got together to make cards for Roanna's family.  They were in need of "Thank You" cards.  Several of my downline and friends had asked what they could do to help, so I shared this need and they took immediate action.  Some friends that were close to the family dropped cards directly to them while stopping by to visit them or taking them a meal.  Others asked if they could stop by my house and contribute cards for this cause.  A few others came over for a couple of hours so we could "talk story" and be creative together, doing something that Roanna would have loved.

The family requested that we don't follow any particular theme or pattern.  They just needed Thank You cards and told everyone to stamp them in their own unique way.   It was really great to see all the beautiful creations that were stamped with aloha to bless Roanna's family.

Here are all the cards that were created at or dropped off at my home that evening.

My card was created with the Rose Garden thinlits.  I have to say that the new Big Shot platform is totally worth the investment.  It made it so EASY to create this beautiful cut out rose pattern.  Prior to adhering the black rose cut out card stock, I stamped the exact image with black ink and colored it in with an aqua painter and stamp pads.   I carefully added glue to the back of the delicate rose cut out and lined it up on top of the stamped rose.  The background of this card is Pear Pizzaz which was one of Roanna's favorite colors.  I attached a punched out jeweled flower to add sparkle, something I often do on my creations.

Norine has such a beautiful style.  Her card is stamped in one of our newest In Colors Sweet Sugarplum.

I love the layering on this card and the gentle splatter stamped on it to soften it and make it look so elegant.  Norine is such a humble yet talented stamper.  Her customers and friends just love her classes!

Next up is Lori.  She created a variety of cards featuring Designer Series Paper and punched out flowers.  Lori is very busy with work and family so I really appreciate her stopping by to drop off these cards for the family.  One thing I appreciate about Lori is she is always joyful with a smile on her beautiful face.

Both Lori and I used the same "Thank You" sentiment from the set One Big Meaning which is an amazing set for Thank You cards because it features 7 different Thank You sentiments in different fonts all in one stamp set.

Berd stopped by quickly to deliver these beautiful cards created with this Bird of Paradise Paper from the Botanical Gardens DSP that was in our last Occasions catalog.

I love Berd's simple style of stamping.  She lives a very busy life with work, family, coaching, softball and baseball so she is a great example of someone who can teach you how to make beautiful cards that are quick and simple to make, with NO coloring cause that is not her favorite thing to do, LOL.

When Lori showed us her cards (below) it was great to see how she and Berd came up with cards using the same designer paper and the lay out of the card was very similar too!

This butterfly one was really fun, with a unique fold on the front.   Lori said that making this card is simple because you just use your paper cutter to cut a straight line in the middle of the designer paper and then fold it back carefully to create this look.  The great thing about our Designer Paper is that there is a pretty pattern on both sides so Lori shows us how you can see both sides of the paper by doing this technique.

Cyndie, Pam and I shared lots of laughs while creating together.  These two have been especially helpful to me in the past couple of weeks and I am so grateful for their love and friendship as well as their sense of humor!

Aren't their cards beautiful?  Let's take a closer look.

Most of this card was created by using the stamp set Butterfly Basics.  The Butterfly however comes from the Wonderful Wings set.  I think combing these two sets produces and absolutely gorgeous card.

Pam's card is SUPER cute too.  Pam made this card with a brand new stamp set called Live, Love and Grow.  It is a really unique set that allows you to make all kinds of different arraignments with these beautiful succulents.  I think Pam did a great job on this card she was probably inspired by the beautiful garden her husband built her in her backyard where her plants are thriving and growing like crazy!

The next card was created by Tammy who had attended our Holiday retreat and really enjoyed Roanna's presentation as well as getting to know Roanna that day.  Tammy stamped this beautiful monochromatic card using two of Roanna's favorites, the color green and flowers!

Terry followed the same color scheme as Tammy.  They both used the color green and flowers!  As Terry stamped she shared about the plans she and Roanna were making to do some holiday classes together.  Terry and Roanna were childhood friends who had been reunited through Stampin' Up!.  It was nice to hear how Terry plans to do her best to continue stamping and finish the goals that she had set with her dear friend.

I thought it was so thoughtful that these ladies thought of honoring their friend by choosing elements that they know she loved.

Finally, here is Michelle's card.  Again, can you see how great minds think alike?  Shades of Green, elegant flowers and an oh so beautiful creation created by Michelle who is like this card is so beautiful inside and out.

All in all we blessed the family with around 200 cards that were stamped with much love and aloha.  It was a blessing to see the smile on Roanna's daughters face when I delivered these cards.  She told me what a blessing it was to have these because she said, "there was NO way we could have sent out store bought cards, Mom wouldn't have approved".

It was so touching to hear at her memorial service just how much Roanna loved to craft.  Her daughters shared that even when she was tired and supposed to rest, she still found moments to sneak into her stamp room and create.  It brought her joy and it made her happy!

Today A "memory" popped up on my Facebook from one of our stampin' events together. Its moments like these that we will all remember fondly.

All of us were blessed that we had the opportunity to be a part of her stampin family and spend time stamping with her as well as being inspired by her.

I hope as her family writes in each one of these cards they will feel the aloha that was put into each element of these creations.  I also hope that as they say "Thank You" to others they will know how Thankful we were for our time with Roanna.  She was loved by all of us and will be dearly missed.
