Formula One Technique

Today I want to share with you a quick method for putting a set of cards together.  I call it my Formula One Technique.  This is the technique I use when I am short on time and want to create cards that are fast to make.  This technique works best when using any of our fabulous Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers.  It is also the perfect technique for creating coordinating sets of cards.

Formula One technique is basically a color blocking technique.  I used it to create the base layer on this entire set of cards.

Do you see that all of the base layers of these cards have the same dimensions?  Here are the measurements for the Formula One technique.

Designer Series Paper - 3 x 5 1/4  Solid Card Stock - 1 x 5 1/4

Just take a standard size card, that has been folded in half to the top layer is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Then add the Formula One Dimensions as described above.  For the focal point use any size card stock depending on what stamp you use to finish your card.  The Formula One is a fast way to create the base layer on cards.

These cards were created for a special event where I was highlighting our Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper.

Here is a close up of each of the cards.

The first card was created using a set that is a part of the Naturally Eclectic Suite called Oh So Eclectic.  I fussy cut a coordinating flower and embellished it with one of our gold faceted gems.  I just love these gems, this one works perfectly to add an dimension and texture to the front of this card.

The next card was created using the Happiest of Days stamp set.

The birthday gifts were colored with our Stampin' Write markers and Basic Rhinestone Jewels were added to the bows on each gift.

Card number three uses the cute jeweled piece of the Designer Series Paper.

I added a rhinestone to the center of a punched flower to embellish this fabulous fashionista who comes from the stamp set Beautiful You!

I changed direction on this butterfly card and put the one inch strip along the bottom front of this card.

This is the only card that required a Big Shot because I used a framelit to cut out the Butterfly from Butterfly Basics Bundle so that it would look more three dimensional.

This technique is super simple and has made creating cards with Designer Series Paper so simple, quick and fun.

Next time you open up a pack of Designer Paper why not try and follow this formula to create your base layers and before you know it you'll be creating some Formula One cards that are FAST and FABULOUS!

Happy Stampin'

Happiness Is Stampin' Up!

On Saturday, I hosted a special breakfast at my home for some of my newest downline members.  This was a special incentive based gathering for all of my newest recruits as well as anyone in my downline who had recruited 2 during our recent Saleabration special.   Everyone who was in attendance enjoyed breakfast, a game, a gift from me and a free class.

In my next post, I will share with you the four projects we made at this gathering.  However  today,  I just want to share a little bit about the event as well as highlight the cute gift tin everyone received.

Before everyone arrived I set my dining room table and placed a gift tin on each person's plate.

I stamped the front of this tin with a "Happiness is Stampin' Up!" stamp I had received at an event many years ago.

I used Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper on the front of the tin because this was the featured product on the projects we made that morning.

It was fun to surprise everyone with this cute card tin that was waiting for them at their seat when they arrived.

For breakfast I served an egg casserole, portuguese sausage, fruit and some amazing homemade scones that my friend Cindy had baked the night before.

As we ate together, I had everyone share a little bit about themselves.

When Patty shared she said that she has been working on trying to make better food choices and Stampin' Up! has been great for her health.  Patty went on to explain that when she passes the kitchen late at night rather than grab a snack, she grabs her Stampin' Supplies and sits at the kitchen table to work.  Patty made us all laugh when she said she declares, "CARDS NOT CARBS".  Who knew that stamping could be a great way to lose weight!

After breakfast we played a quick round of "Left, Right, Center" with small pieces of Naturally Eclectic Designer Paper as the items that got passed around the table during the game.

The winner of the game was Erin, who not only won all the Designer Series Paper but also received a card kit and ink pad.

I love how being a part of Stampin' Up! brings people together.   I love the excitement that is shared when stampers gather and share creativity.

After spending the morning with these ladies I felt so blessed.  I decided that I am going to host another event like this again in the very near future.

I feel so grateful for the many wonderful people who have become a part of my life since I joined Stampin' Up!  almost 20 years ago!

I am also grateful to these who attended this incentive event and the blessing it was to get to know each of them a little better.

I hope that each time one of these ladies opens up their card tin they will remember our special gathering and the Happiness that was shared when we gathered together.

Happiness truly is Stampin' Up!

Thankful For You

Today was my final day of radiation.  From the moment I woke up I felt so happy that today had finally arrived.

It was wonderful to have Karin and Cindy with me today.  When I stepped out of the car at the hospital they spoke encouraging words to me reminding me that this was truly a day to celebrate!   I am so thankful to have such supportive sisters.

As I checked in to the Radiation Department I could sense the staff's excitement along with mine, many of them smiled and said "Congratulations" to me.

The technicians who have been helping me daily were amazing at what they do.  They took such great care of me and although I didn't look forward to treatment, I did look forward to seeing them everyday!

Over the past few days I have been working on some cards to give to them.  I made the guys a Men's Emergency Card Kit so they would have cards to give their wives for their Birthday, Valentine's Day, Anniversary and I even included an I'm Sorry card!  When I gave them the gift I told them, "you guys took such good care of me, now I'm going to take care of you by providing you with cards for your spouse".  The kits came out SUPER CUTE!!  I'll be sharing them with you in a future post.

I made a different set of cards for Deborah (pictured above) and some of the nursing staff who have been especially helpful to me while I've been in treatment.  For today I'll just share one of those cards with you.

This card was made with the Oh So Eclectic Bundle.  This set is one of my favorite new stamps because of the beautiful images in it.  This particular flower stamp is my favorite in this set.  When you coordinate the set with the gorgeous Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, it makes it so easy to make quick and simple card for any occasion.

I wanted to highlight a Thank You card today because my heart is full of Thankfulness and Gratitude.  I know I still have some follow up appointments but for today, it feels so good to know that this season is coming to an end.

As we walked out of the Cancer Center I stopped to take a photo by this sign I passed by daily.  Although this season is over for me I know there are many others who are just beginning their journey of battling cancer.  I hope and pray God will show me ways I can give back to be an encouragement to others in the same way so many have been an encouragement to me.

I just want to end todays post by saying THANK YOU to each one of you who have been on this journey with me.  Thank you for your love, kind words, hugs, gifts, cards and especially for your prayers!  Although this season has been a challenge, it has also been a blessing.  Some really good things have happened in me as a result.  I have a greater awareness of God's love and amazing grace.  I understand more fully what it means to rest in Him.  I am amazed by how much I am loved and cared for.  I am aware of how tremendously blessed I am.   I know that no matter what comes my way I can trust God knowing that the only place I want my life to be is in His hands.

Thank you for your love, support and prayers.  I am eternally thankful for you!

With A Grateful Heart,

Cindy
