Follow Your Art

Last month a small group of my Stamped With Aloha team attended Stampin’ Up!’s On Stage event in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This is a trip I normally would have been on. It was hard not to go because Stampin’ Up! events are the best. Plus, I love to travel, especially when it gives me the opportunity to visit with my Stampin’ Up! friends.

When it was time for registration, I just felt as if I shouldn’t go this year. You see, my Dad has not been in the best health and I wanted to stay close in case he or my Mom needed me.

The decision not to go was hard but it turned out to be a very wise choice. You see while everyone was at On Stage, I began to not feel well physically. I wasn’t sure what was wrong, I just knew I was having some respiratory issues that were causing me to feel fatigued. It’s a long story, one that I plan to tell you more about in a future post. But for now, let me continue to tell you about On Stage.

One of the perks you get when you attend On Stage, is to see the new catalog first. You also get to see new products and have the opportunity to order some of them before anyone else. Since I wasn’t there, I didn’t get to enjoy these special perks this time.

Well, one of my sweet stampin’ sisters and friends who went to On Stage decided to send me a very special surprise. She ordered some new products and gifted them to me. Imagine my surprise when this box arrived and inside was products from our fabulous new Follow Your Art Suite! This special gift of aloha really lifted my spirits and brightened my day. My friend, had no idea that I wasn’t feeling well, so this gift was sent simply as a gift of love and aloha and for that I was truly grateful.

It took me a few days before I had the strength to stamp but this special gift motivated me to get into my studio and work on a Thank You card. Here is the card I created for my friend.

Follow Your Art Card

Follow Your Art Card

This Follow Your Art Suite is so fun. The stamp set “It Starts With Art” has super cute images and sentiments for the craft lovers at heart. The Designer Paper is bright and colorful and covered with adorable images.

This sentiment says, “You paint my world with happiness”. Happiness is certainly what I felt when I opened up this special gift. It was such an amazing and fun surprise and so timely too. I am thankful that my friend took the time to put together something that really lifted my spirits at a time when I really needed it.

The next time God puts someone on your heart it might just be a good time to do as my friend did. It doesn’t have to be by sending a special gift! Just respond by making a phone call, giving a hug, speaking words of encouragement, sending a card, etc. Just follow your “art” and let others know you were thinking of them and by doing so, they will know you care.

With Gratitude and Much Aloha,

Cindy

Seize The Day

Encouragement is such an important thing to do. The Bible tells us in I Thessalonians 5:11, “Encourage One another and Build each other up! Encouragement can make such a difference in the lives of others.

As we journey through life we encounter different seasons. Sometimes we feel like we are on a mountain top, other times we feel like we are in a valley! When you look at the people around you it is often unclear where they are on their journey! They may be celebrating a victory or facing a great challenge. Either way, offering words of encouragement and hope will brighten their day.

Today as I sat with one of my team members, she shared her story. I was so incredibly blessed to see how the gift of encouragement brought her hope and changed her life. Here is what she shared:

“Stampin’ Up! saved my life. After my husband died, I was in a deep depression and I was becoming a hermit. I didn’t want to leave my house! My friend Roxanne, who is a demonstrator on your team, reached out to me and invited me to attend you Stampin’ Bunco night. Roxanne knew I needed to get out of the house! When I came, I was welcomed with so much love and I felt happy to be there. When I saw the swap cards you were trading, I was inspired and wanted to try stamping. You encouraged me to start a Paper Pumpkin subscription, so I did. As I began to stamp, I remembered how much I enjoyed crafting! I grew more excited about the Stampin’ Up! products so I decided to join! I called Roxanne and she helped me become a demonstrator! When I attended your inspiration night team gathering, I felt so much love and encouragement. I discovered that I have hope! And now, I’m getting out, I’m being creative, I enjoy sharing with others and one day soon I hope to teach a class of my own.”

Wow! It made me so thankful to see and hear that Roxanne’s encouragement led to this demonstrators transformation!

This week I had an opportunity to send a card to another demonstrator friend named Rick. Yes, Rick is one of our awesome male demonstrators! I had recently witnessed Rick sharing with a group of demonstrators about a goal that he wanted to reach but didn’t know how. Immediately, all of the demonstrators around him starting sharing ideas to inspire and encourage Rick and guess what happened, a few weeks later, he reached his goal!

When Rick shared that he had reached his goal, he took a photo of his goal setting sheet. I was so touched when I saw my name listed as a part of his support team! I was even more blessed to see how encouraging words led to Rick accomplishing something he had previously thought might be impossible to do. Rick worked hard and reached the peak of that mountain. I’m so happy for him.

Here is the card I made for Rick to celebrate his accomplishment.

Seize The Day Card

Seize The Day Card

This card was made with the stamp set called Seize the Day! What an appropriate name.

To create the sun, I took a scrap piece of Thick White Card Stock and punched a 1 3/4 circle out of it. I then used that piece as a template and laid it over a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and sponged in the punched out area with Daffodil Delight ink.

I don’t know who God has placed in your life at the moment. But one thing I do know is that you can make a difference by speaking words of encouragement to those you encounter. Guess what, when you offer encouragement to others and see the difference it makes, you will also be encouraged.

So, go out, speak life, give hope, inspire others and be happy knowing you ARE making a difference.

Pink With Purpose Event

Last week was our first Pink With Purpose Event.  I wanted to take some time to thank everyone for stopping by and supporting us.  This event was hosted by Annie, Michelle and myself.  All three of us have something in common, we are Cancer Survivors.

When I was diagnosed these two beautiful women blessed me with an abundance of love, encouragement and support.  They had a lot of wise words from their own experience and I am so grateful they took the time to help me.  I am certainly blessed to have them in my life.

Our guests "dropped by" between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm enjoyed favors, free make and takes and door prizes.

The favors were pink ribbon pencils that were topped with a ribbon I cut out using the Support Ribbon framelits.

The Support Ribbon Framelit also has this cute heart shaped framelit that I used as the focal point for the Thank You Sentiment.  What is awesome about these framelits is that you can cut them out in different colors to show your support for many different causes.

Our Make and Takes were these two cards and we offered a free Pink Post It Note holder to any Cancer Survivor who stopped by that day.

We are so grateful for everyone who was able to attend.

One of my demonstrator friends from Minnesota named Brenda was on the island at the perfect time, so she was able to stop by that day!

We even had a visit from a Queen when HRH Kehau stopped by to support us.  It was a sunny day out which is why she has her glasses on her head, otherwise I'm sure she'd be wearing her tiara!

When Juliet stopped by, she brought me this beautiful plant.  I had never seen this type of Calla Lilly before.  Juliet also made me an adorable card.

Isn't this sweet little hedge hog cute?  This card was made from our Painted Harvest Stamp Set.  I loved the fun and out of the box way this card was created.

We were spoiled at this event with wonderful refreshments.  That is because they were coordinated and prepared by Annie who is a Pampered Chef consultant and a wiz in the kitchen.

In addition to these yummy treats, Annie also demonstrated how to make Coconut Whipping Cream using the new Pampered Chef whipped cream maker that is available in pink during the month of October.  Purchasing this item also helps raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness.  I was so excited to learn how to make this healthier version of Whipping Cream that was simple to make and oh so delicious!

We had a retired stamp sale at this event as well.

Our heart at this event was to raise funds for Hawaii's Hope Lodge.  We did that by having a donation jar that you could drop any sized donation into.

Thank you to all who donated and who purchased Stampin' Up! or Pampered Chef products that day as a portion of our commission will be going to help Hope Lodge as well.

Annie brought these wonderful flyers so we could all be aware of the other needs that Hope Lodge has.

These cards were mailed to me during my recent Breast Cancer Battle.  As each card arrived I was so touched by all the kind words and loving support.   This encourages me to now "give back" by partnering together with Annie and Michelle to be a blessing to Hope Lodge.  I hope you will be encouraged to join us as well.  No matter how big or small, what you are able to give matters!

If you would like to join us please let one of us know so we can continue to bless and support this wonderful organization that is making a difference in Hawaii for those battling Cancer.

Always remember that YOU can make a difference!  Let's continue to do that Together!

Cindy

Rose for Rosita

Last week I began to get back to business and held my first stamp class and Bunco gathering.  I am holding an official grand opening of my new stamp studio on October 15th but since I've been feeling better I was excited to begin my classes and events again.

It was so wonderful to have people in my home again for inspiration, creativity and fun!  Our Bunco theme this month was Tickled Pink and featured our Fabulous Flamingo stamp set.  I made some simple clear box favors for each guest to take home.

I can't tell you how refreshing it was to be with everyone again.  I missed the smiles, laughter and friendship we share.

Goldie came to one session and brought baby Duke!  We all couldn't believe how much he had grown and how GOOD he was.  Even with all the noise he didn't make a peep the entire evening.  What a precious little blessing he is!

Rosita, pictured below (far left in the front row) with her daughter Sarina (pictured on the left behind her) came to both Bunco gatherings this month.  It is always wonderful to have this mother/daughter duo there because they are both so kind and loving, just really GOOD people!  I enjoy having them around!

Well, last night I found out that Rosita had been admitted to the hospital.  I was so sorry to hear that this dear sweet woman was suffering.

As the news spread to the other ladies who know her, all shared their concern.

This morning I went with another friend from our stampin' ohana to go visit her.  We stopped and bought her some roses to go along with this card that I made for her this morning.

It was hard to see her laying there knowing she was not feeling well but she still managed to smile and be positive like she always is.

I wanted to share this post tonight because Rosita is going to be going through a lot of testing in the next couple of days so I'd ask that you please pray for her and her daughter Sarina too.

One of the blessings of doing what I do as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is the blessing of building relationships with so many amazing people.  It always touches my heart to see how the love of ink and paper has the power to bring people together to build relationships and make a difference in the lives of others.

I know this sweet woman Rosita has made a difference in my life by the example she sets and the love she shares.  Would you please say a prayer for Rosita to be healed completely and hopefully back to stamping with us again very soon!

Mahalo for your prayers!

Cindy
