Happy Dance

The weekend is here and I am so glad it is. I am grateful that I have done really well physically, spiritually and emotionally this week despite the high’s and low’s I’ve encountered as I continue to deal with a mystery illness..

A low point of this week was during a consultation with an oncologist. While meeting with him, I became aware that I have all the symptoms of Hodgkins Lymphoma. It’s not that I’ve been diagnosed with that, but it was clear that it was one of the things they are looking for.

As for high points, there were several. First, I contacted a local environmental company to come and test the air at our home. This was to eliminate the possibility that I had been poisoned with mold. The testing costs between $600 to $1,000. Although the cost was high we knew we needed to do the service. When I called to schedule the service, the owner told me that they would be coming out the next day and that they would be doing the work at no cost. I was stunned. I don’t usually cry a lot, but upon hearing this news, I burst into tears of joy and I probably cried for 30 minutes straight. When I asked him why they were doing this for me, he said, “It’s good to do some good every once in a while, its why we started this business”. Their act of kindness not only blessed me but it inspired me. The testing was done the next day and everything came out clear. No mold.

Another high point was when I went over my most recent CT Scan with my doctor. My lungs looked SO much better. Of course the assumption is that this improvement is due to the medication I am taking. However, I am believing with all my heart that these results are because of the answered prayers of so many who have been praying for me. I know that includes many of your reading this right now,. If that’s you, I just want to say, Thank You SO Much!!!! I am so grateful for you.

This week I downloaded this awesome Bible Memory Ap and have have been working on memorizing the book of James, chapter one. Here is the first few verses of that passage:

Consider it PURE JOY, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials or many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and compete, not lacking anything. James 1:1-4

As I read this I am reminded that we all will face trials in life. This doesn’t say “IF” you face a trial but it says “WHENEVER” you face trial(s) with an “S” which means you will likely face more than one during your lifetime!!! These trials will be challenging but we can look at them as opportunities to grow our faith and develop perseverance. I know for me there are areas of my walk with Christ that I have been praying for to be strengthened. I am thankful that this situation is providing an opportunity for me to grow more into who God has created me to be.

So, today I am standing on God’s promises and claiming victory over this illness. So many of you have prayed and believed for my healing, I think it’s about time I stop focusing on my symptoms and instead focus on the fact that I know God is my healer and there is nothing too difficult for him. Knowing this, comforts me and fills me with hope and a great deal of peace.

I know that some of you reading this are going through challenges right now. There have been many of you who have written me privately or pulled me to the side at a meeting or class to share your story. My heart goes out to you as my situation pales in comparison to many of the struggles you are facing today. Please know that I am praying for you and that I hope that no matter how difficult your circumstances are, you will remember that God is near and desires to help you!

Here is one of my favorite Bible promises to encourage you:

Fear not, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Speaking of help and strength, one of the persons who has really blessed me this week is my downline and friend Jodi Hashimoto. She along with several others from the Stamped With Aloha family have stepped in to run our monthly Inspiration Nights in my place. I was so thankful that a few days ago I was able to attend our Inspiration Night. Jodi did a great job designing adorable projects as she always does!!! I’ll share those projects in a future post but for today, I want to show you a card that she designed for one of her recent classes.

Now I must warn you, before you scroll down to see it, you might want to clear some space around you because it is so stinkin’ cute, it may cause you to jump up and start doing a happy dance!!!

This Little Piggy Card

This Little Piggy Card

Jodi created this adorable card with the sets, This Little Piggy and Tropical Chic. She hand cut the grass skirt with a piece of Old Olive Card Stock and Paper Snips. I love how Jodi took one of our Frosted Flower Embellishments and colored it to match the card with a Stampin’ Blends Marker.

If you want to see all the cute critter cards Jodi designed for her “on the farm” class, you can click this link to go to her blog: The Stamping Owl.

When a new catalog comes out, I am always looking for ways to add a little Hawaiian flair to my creations. So I used Jodi’s card my inspiration and I got out my new Dino Days stamp set and created this.

Happy Hula Dinosaur

Happy Hula Dinosaur

This little dinosaur is so adorable. There are other dinosaurs to choose from, but this is my favorite and I think the sentiment is so perfect! The coordinating Dinosaur Designer Series Paper is so amazing too. I can’t wait to play around with this set and make more fun creations.

Here is another way I laid out the same card idea.

Dino Days - Hula Dinosaur

Dino Days - Hula Dinosaur

The hula skirt was created with the Dino Dies that are a part of the Dinosaur Suite. All I had to do was to snip a little of each end of the Old Olive Card stock to create a fun mini hula skirt for this adorable dinosaur.

As you can see I also followed Jodi’s idea of coloring the Frosted Floral Embellishments in with a Stampin’ Blends Marker.

Dino Day’s Hula Dinosaur Cards

Dino Day’s Hula Dinosaur Cards

I chose a Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends Marker, to color in the Frosted Flower Embellishment so that the flower would match the little speckles in the Dinosaur Designer Series Paper.

Well, I’m off to yet another doctors appointment!!! I better take a moment to catch my breath from all that dancing!

As I go, I will continue to walk in faith and victory believing that He who began a good work in me, will be faithful to complete it.

With Faith, Hope and Love,

Cindy

We Must Celebrate

The month of May was filled with many wonderful celebrations.  I am blessed to be a part of a company that allows me flexibility in my schedule so I could fully enjoy the very special events that happened this month.  I am also very grateful for friends who came along side of me to support me in so many ways!

One of those friends is my very talented downline, Jodi Hashimoto.  Since I was busy with my daughters wedding earlier this month, Jodi offered to design projects for my Stamped With Aloha downline meeting this month.

Jodi is an expert at creating "Critter" cards.  Whenever a new catalog comes out we quickly search to see what type of "Critter" stamps there are and look forward to see what Jodi will create next. Jodi designed all the projects for our gathering with this adorable retiring set, We Must Celebrate.

In this set you see this adorable family of critters.  A Squirrel, a Raccoon, a Bear and a Bunny.  Both Jodi and I used some precision scissors to cut our stamps apart so that these images could be used separately.  Here is an example of a card where two Bunnies were stamped side by side.

Another fun way to use the stamps when they are separated is to stack them on top of each other.  I think this was my favorite card of the bunch.

These cards also feature these super cute balloon embellishments.  They are colorful and add a great finishing touch to these stinkin' cute cards.

I am very grateful to Jodi for coming to my aid and creating these projects to share with our group.  I had planned to be at the meeting that evening but after returning from the Big Island I ended up with some respiratory challenges.  I was really sick on our meeting night and it was the first time I can ever remember that I didn't attend a meeting because I wasn't feeling well.

It was good to know that the group was in good hands and that everyone who attended had a great time.

As the month of May comes to an end so does the end of our current catalog.  We will transition to a new catalog filled with beautiful new ink pad colors, new style ink pads, gorgeous stamp sets, delightful designer paper and amazing accessories.  Now that all the celebrations are ending I am looking forward to getting back into my stamp room and creating with our newest products.  Although this set will be retired I know there will be plenty of new favorites to use and share for future celebrations to come.

I hope you enjoyed this adorable projects as much as I enjoyed receiving them from Jodi.  Jodi has a blog, The Stampin' Owl that is really great and if you click HERE you can get a supply list with measurements for all Jodi used to create these adorable We Must Celebrate Critter Cards.

Until Next Time,
Happy Stampin'

May Inspiration Night

Every month I have an Inspiration Night with my wonderful Stamped With Aloha team.  Due to my stamp room remodel I had asked my downline Jodi if she would be willing to coordinate our May gathering.  Jodi agreed to help and soon after I saw the project she planned to share.  I got so excited because EVERYTHING Jodi creates is adorable.  Jodi loves "critters" so we had a Critter themed inspiration night.  Here is the project she shared.

All of these adorable little cards had matching handmade envelopes and featured items from our A Little Foxy Suite.  Each guest coming to Inspiration Night received a sampler of the A Little Foxy Designer Series paper so they could choose the pattern of their choice to create matching envelopes.

Jodi shared with everyone how to use our amazing envelope punch board.  This is the tool we used to create the fun envelopes that went with these adorable cards.

The envelopes were all so fun and pretty and the perfect match to the cute cards.  Let's take a closer look at the cards.

Fox and friends is one of Jodi's favorites because it has critters in it of course.  The first two cards featured this adorable fox and each guest was able to choose which sentiment they wanted to put on the cards.

The next card featured this adorable punch art girl.  It was fun to see all the different variations of hair people would give her as they created their cards.  The words on these two cards came from the stamp set, Teeny Tiny Wishes.

I was so appreciative to Jodi for taking on this project and prepping the almost 40 packets that had to be ready for everyone who came.  I originally intended on helping her because I thought when I asked her the only complication I had going on was my stamp room construction.  The added unexpected health challenge I'm currently facing was not apart of what I had planned.  However, I saw God's faithfulness once again in having Jodi in charge of Inspiration Night because it would have been almost impossible for me to pull it off.

Shorty after receiving my breast cancer diagnosis, I learned that the same day as Inspiration Night I would be scheduled to meet the surgeon to discuss plans for my treatment.  I was able to go to this appointment and then come to Inspiration Night and just enjoy the love and encouragement from my wonderful downline who made me feel so special.

May Inspiration Night - www.stampedwithaloha.com

As everyone entered, some were surprised to see me there.  I was greeted with hugs and lots of love and many words of encouragement.  Several of these women shared their own stories of difficulties they had been through.  I was so touched by their transparency and caring hearts.

Just being with everyone and watching them have such a good time creating this adorable project lifted my spirits and made me feel better.

And then there was these two amazing ladies, Jodi and Norine who insisted that they run next months Inspiration Night too so I wouldn't have to worry about it.  They sat and reviewed the new catalog looking for what products they would like to feature in June.

I feel so blessed to have such amazing sisters in my life.

I am so grateful to Jodi for sharing her amazing project with us.  If you would like to know how to make this adorable project Jodi has really detailed information on her blog, The Stamping Owl.  Click the link to see Jodi's post and you will find all the measurements and supplies you need.

Even though my circumstances are challenging at the moment, I am grateful to God for showing me that He is in control.  I had so much peace knowing Jodi had Inspiration Night covered so I could just focus on dealing with my unexpected circumstances.   This is just another sign of how God was showing me that He is in control and I can rest in Him.

April Stamp A Stack

As I sit here to share today's blog entry I can here the sounds of drills and hammers nearby as my stamp room is being renovated.  I will take photos during the construction and share updates with you when the job is completed.  Until then, I have lots to share with you from classes and events that took place at the end of April.

My April stamp a stack was really fun this month.  I was excited to teach how to make these four cards.

Cindy's April Stamp A Stack Class - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Cindy's April Stamp A Stack Class - www.stampedwithaloha.com

This first card is a friendship card.  I created this card for Krista who was one of my best friends from High School.  Krista was on Oahu last month and just happened to be staying at a resort just a few minutes from my house.   I was so excited to see her because we hadn't seen each other in over 25 years.

When we said our goodbyes in High School we vowed that we would get together every few years and sadly that didn't happen as we hoped it would.

However, the mark of true friendship is that when we did get together 25 years later, we just picked up where we left off and it was wonderful to be together again!

This first card in my stack is the card I made and gave to Krista when she was here.  I am thankful that our friendship has lasted for so many years.

This card was created with the hostess set called Love You Lots and the Occasions catalog set Window Shopping.  I colored the hedgehogs with the Watercolor pencils and a blender pen.

The next card is very similar to the card I made for my Mom's birthday.  I just changed the colors and simplified it a bit so it would be appropriate as a stamp a stack card.

I sure love this stamp set, Jar of Love.  I am glad it is not retiring and will be available in our new catalog.

Card number three was created with the Swan Lake stamp set and it has such a sweet message.  It reads, "Wherever you go today....."

"may happiness follow".  That is such a beautiful sentiment to share with others!

Goldie shared her precious baby with me which always makes me happy!!!

And speaking of precious things that brings me to my last card.  This final card was designed by my downline and friend Jodi Hashimoto.  Jodi is uber talented at making cute things.  When I saw this card it made me think of little Andrew.  I told Jodi although it was a lot of work I was going to prep the pieces so that I could teach everyone to make this adorable punch art card.  Are you ready to see it?

Punch Art Shave Ice Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Punch Art Shave Ice Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Doesn't this card just make you smile and want to eat a rainbow shave ice?  For those of you who love punch art here are the punches I used to create Jodi's card.

The head was made with crumb cake card stock and punched with a 1 1/2 circle punch.  The hair was made with basic black card stock and punched out with the 1 1/2 circle punch and then I used some paper snips to create bangs.  The face was stamped with Playful Pals stamp set and the cheeks were stamped with a pencil eraser and pink pirouette ink.  The body was punched out by using the Best Badge stamp set.  The shorts used the same Best Badge punch and a little triangle was cut out of the bottom to resemble board shorts. The Designer paper I used was from an In Color Designer Paper Stack.  The arms were made from the Cookie Cutter Builder punch.   The shave ice cone was made out of a retired banner punch and the shave ice itself was a 1 1/2 circle that I colored with sponge daubers.  Finally a clear wink of stella was brushed over the top of the shave ice to make it sparkle.  This is by far the cutest card I have made in a while all thanks to the talented Jodi Hashimoto who designed it and allowed me to teach it at my class.  I realized after reading Jodi's blog that we used a different punch to make the cone.  Her's is a little larger and I like how it covers part of the boys face.  To see the original rendition of this card on Jodi's blog, click here.

If you follow my blog you know that many of my creations are inspired by the people.   When I saw Jodi's card I immediately fell in love with it and thought of cutie patootie Andrew.   When Andrew was younger he would come in my stamp room and ask to play with my punches to make shapes.   Even at two years old he knew the names of shapes better than I did.   So I think that its quite appropriate that an adorable card make with punched shapes would be named my "Andrew card".  Take a look at the photo below and let me know if you understand why this card reminds me of precious little Andrew!

I hope you enjoyed seeing the cards that were created at my April stamp a stack.  This was the final class in my stamp room as it appears below.  I better go check on the construction and take some more pictures to share with you soon.
