Welcome Neighbor

This week we met a new neighbor who moved in next door to us.  He is such a friendly man and after only talking to him for a few minutes we knew that we were very fortunate to have such a kind person living next door.

I wanted to take over a card and welcome gift of some sort so I went to my stamp room looking for a stamp that said "welcome".  I came across a new stamp I had just purchased called the Hand Lettered Alphabet.  This awesome stamp set allows you to stamp any word you want.  So I used it to spell out the word I needed and that was the word "welcome".

The back ground of this card was made with a piece of card stock from the Petal Garden Paper Stack.  After adhering the paper to the note card I just punched some flowers out of Calypso Coral card stock and some leaves out of Old Olive card stock.  I added rhinestones because that always makes every card sparkle, which is something I love.

I decided to make our new neighbor a Kona Coffee Mud Pie.  Since we don't eat a lot of sugar it had been awhile since I had made one of these pies.  It's been really hot the past few days and I thought my neighbor might enjoy a piece of this delicious frozen ice cream pie.

This mud pie recipe is one of my favorites.  You can find it in the book Hawaii's Best Local Desserts by Jean Watanabe Hee.   I have several of Jean Watanabe Hee's Cookbooks, they all have really great local recipes.  I love making this pie because its SO simple and it comes out great!  Would you like to know how to make a pie of your own?  Here is the recipe.

Kona Coffee Mud Pie

1 package Oreo Cookies (about 40 cookies)

3/4 cup butter, melted

1/2 cup macadamia nuts, chopped fine

1/2 gallon Kona Coffee Ice Cream ( I use Rosalani Mud Pie Ice Cream)

1 container Cool Whip (8 oz)

Extra macadamia nuts and oreo crumbs for sprinkling.

Put cookies in plastic bag and roll to make crumbs.  Put crumbs in a bowl (save a tiny amount for top of pie).  Add butter and nuts and mix well.  (Save a few macadamia nuts for the top of the pie too) Press crumbs into a 9 x 13 pan and bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.  Cool Well.

Cut the ice cream into fouths and press on cooled crumbs.  Spread cool whip over ice cream.  Sprinkle with macadamia nuts and cookie crumbs.  Freeze.

My neighbor smiled as we handed him the card and pie.  I hope they enjoyed it and know how blessed we are to have such kind people living next door.

Well, its Aloha Friday!  What plans do you have this weekend?  Perhaps you can try and make a pie?  Or I have an even better idea!  Why don't you head on down to the 15th Annual Hawaii Woman Expo.  We will be there all weekend.  Look for the Stamped With Aloha booth where there will be live demonstrations and a card sale to benefit the Hawaii Food bank.

I will be there Saturday from 10am till 1pm and again on Sunday from 12pm till 5pm.  It would be really great to see you there!  We're promoting a couple of fun new classes that you can sign up for.  Here is the info for the expo.

Cookie Cutter Clips

This past weekend was the Hawaii Women Expo.  My group Stamped With Aloha had a booth there again this year.   Our goals for this event was to promote a Cookie Cutter Christmas Class, to share about the Paper Pumpkin BOGO special offer, to demonstrate our favorite products from the Holiday Catalog and to raise money for the Hawaii Food Bank by selling hand stamped cards.

For our live demonstrations we all chose something in the catalog that we loved the most.

I chose to demonstrate my favorite Holiday Catalog Bundle which just happens to be Cookie Cutter Christmas.  I shared how simple it was to create mini clips that could be easily converted to gift tags, magnets or toppers for a gift bag or party favor.

Each of these are created with a base of 1  3/4 x 2  3/4 of colored card stock and then layered with a    1  1/2 x 2  1/2 piece of Whisper White card stock.  After adhering the Cookie Cutter image I turned each card over and applied a wooden clothepin to the middle with mini glue dots.  For these on this board I also attached a magnet strip.

My favorite of these clips of course is the hula girl.  She is so sweet and something that I will be able to use on projects far beyond the Holiday season.  It was fun to see the reaction to all the actual hula dancers who stopped by the booth at the Expo and admired this cute little punch art hula girl.

I also had a sample that featured how cute this little clip would be on the top of a cello candy bag.

Here is what the back looks like.

In addition to showing these fun Christmas samples I also had a board to display some samples I made with the Cookie Cutter Halloween set which is equally adorable.

The event was a success due to the fact that I have such a fabulous group of stampin' sisters who worked so hard to put everything together.

In this photo below Eve is pointing to our display that features the Paper Pumpkin BOGO offer.  Did you know that  if you are a first time subscriber and you go to www.mypaperpumpkin.com to join before October 10, you can subscribe and get your second month FREE?   Just be sure to indicate me as your demonstrator when you join.

Paper Pumpkin is an awesome subscription that comes in the mail monthly complete with projects that are all planned out for you to assemble, all you need is adhesive.  A subscription makes a great gift for a friend or even for yourself.  This is also great as an activity for kids who love to craft or for people who like to craft but have limited time and are looking for an organized creative escape!  These kits also work great for friends, relatives to have an excuse to get together and create!  They make for a great Mom and Me activitity too.

We sure had a great time at the expo.  Over the three days we sold over 70 cards, shared our passion for creativity, inspired people with our live demonstrations and made many new friends.

I loved this experience.  I love working with these amazing women and hope and pray that all the new friends they met over the weekend will soon be joining one of their stampin' events in the near future.

Cookie Cutter Christmas

Aloha Everyone, it's ALOHA Friday and a great day to head on over to the Hawaii Women Expo that begins at 3pm today.  This is the 14th annual expo and I've been privileged to have had a booth there for the past several years with my group Stamped With Aloha.

This year we will be doing live demonstrations, selling cards to raise funds for the Hawaii Food Bank and promoting a special class that we will all be holding later this month at various locations across the island.  We are also looking for hostesses who want to have this class in the comfort of their own home with their friends and family.

The class is called Cookie Cutter Christmas and here are the projects.

There are three projects we will be making at this $10 class.  A box, a card and a tag.  If you host this class you will also receive a completed treat bag filled with something sweet.  Everyone who attends the class and places an order will also receive the treat bag and template as a bonus project for ordering.  If you bring a friend to the class you can choose a prize from a basket of goodies.  And finally,  If you pre-order the Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle then the class is FREE and you will receive all four projects and the template!.

Let's take a closer look at these oh so cute projects!

This card features the adorable Candy Cane Lane Designer Paper.  I loved this particular sheet of DSP for this card because it pictured cookie images.  I used silver foil paper to resemble a baking sheet and the greeting couldn't be sweeter, celebrating the joy of friendship that is extra special during the holiday season.

Next up is this adorable Reindeer Tag.  Isn't she sweet.  The happy reindeer is peeking over a Real Red Sweetheart punched heart.  The striped background DSP also comes from the Candy Cane Lane Designer Paper pack.  This tag is hung by a piece of Candy Cane Lane Bakers Twine that has a little shimmer in it.  It's very pretty and perfect for the holidays.

The next project features one of our new white treat boxes that come with a clear sleeve that makes decorating it oh so simple.  This will be a great box to use during the upcoming Holiday season to wrap gifts and treats.

The bonus project which is exclusively for hostesses or those placing an order is a special treat bag made out of a 6 x 6 piece of Candy Cane Lane Designer Paper.  Remember the template for this project will be available to all who attend.
