Truly Grateful

My friend Annie will be celebrating her birthday this week.  Since I am traveling to the Stampin' Up! Incentive trip to Alaska, I knew I would miss her special day.  So, before I left the island, I took her out to lunch to celebrate a little early.

Annie and Cindy

Annie is a Pampered Chef consultant who loves Stampin' Up!.  I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator who loves Pampered Chef!  So, needless to say, we make a great pair.  A typical conversation between us might be, "I need to order a couple of ink pads", says Annie.  "Well, I need another mini spatula, cause you know you can never have just one of those", says Cindy.  Let the trading begin!

Choosing what card to make for Annie was simple this year.  I wanted to use the Tropical Chic set because I know Annie loves Monstera leaves and the Tropical Chic set and coordinating Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper has many beautiful Monstera images for her to enjoy!

Here is the card I created with Annie in mind.

I love the bold and bright colors on this card, especially the bright Granny Apple Green that is embossed with the Climbing Vine Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  For the "red" on this card I chose Poppy Parade.  I love how vibrant it is on the flowers.  If you look closely, you can see some of our new Basic Adhesive Back Sequins that I added to the card.  They are so pretty.

The Tropical Chic set doesn't have a Happy Birthday stamp in it, so I found this birthday sentiment in the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.

I was really happy how this card turned out and was glad it made Annie happy too!  Especially since inside this bag was the Tropical Chic Bundle and a few other Stampin' Up! goodies I knew she would enjoy!

I am truly grateful for Annie!!!  She has been a listening ear, offered wise counsel and been there to encourage and inspire me.  Annie has a heart for people and I have witnessed her many times putting others needs before her own.

Since I was preparing to go to Alaska, I decided to use this card inspired by my sweet friend, to be my swap card for the trip.  The only difference is, I changed the sentiment to the "thank you" that comes in the Tropical Chic stamp set.

Here is the Thank You card I made for my cruise swap.

I am really getting excited to go on the cruise.  I love traveling and am blessed that my job, as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, provides me with an opportunity to work hard to earn a free trip.  The cruise will be amazing, but you know what I'm most excited about?  It's being reunited with so many of my demonstrator friends and having the opportunity to meet new demonstrators who I haven't met before.

There is something so special about our community at Stampin' Up!  It is being a part of this wonderful company that has provided a way for me to make lasting friendship with other demonstrators, customers and downline, who like Annie, have become family to me and for that I am truly grateful.

Happy Birthday, Gorgeous

I made a birthday card this week for my beautiful friend Pam who celebrated her birthday at the beginning of May.  Pam was kind enough to give me a ride to my doctors appointment on Tuesday.   We had hoped to schedule some time to go to lunch and celebrate but with all of the unexpected circumstances that came up in my life, I just wanted to make sure she got her card and gift before the month was over!

Let me show you the gift I got her first because it was the gift that inspired the card.

Pam is very creative and she loves food.   Pam often comes to class and brings a creative and fun snacks for all of us to try.  When I saw these adorable placemats with cute sayings in such pretty colors, I thought of her.  So I purchased a set of them for Pam and her family to enjoy.  I also added some yummy snack mix for them to eat and packaged it in a nice container with a matching lid.

It was the Bermuda Bay and Basic Gray color of the placemats that inspired the colors I choose for this card.

I had some new catalog products that I was anxious to use so I incorporated  several of them here too.  First, the images both on the inside and outside of this card came from a new stamp set called Happy Birthday, Gorgeous.  The leaves were stamped in one of our new In Colors called Lemon Lime Twist.  I love embossing folders and punches and this card displays two of our newest ones.  The new punch Ticket Tear border was used on the bottom of the Basic Gray card stock.  The Textured Impressions Embossing Folder called Oh My Stars was used to add a fun texture to the front of this card.  All of these products will be available in our new catalog which will be released on June 1, 2017, which just happens to be exactly one week from today.  How exciting!

I used the set Me = Grateful to stamp on the envelope because it coordinated so well with the gift and tied everything together.

Pam was so kind to not only drop me off at the doctors office but to also get out of her car and walk with me to meet my husband who was waiting for me there.

Someone asked me today, so how are you doing today?  My response was, "I'm doing great probably because I feel so loved and covered in so much prayer."

I just want to end this post by saying Thank You so much to everyone who has been praying for me.  I can feel it.  I am so blessed by your kind words and I am thankful for so many of you like my friend Pam who are going the extra mile to make sure I am continuing to stay positive and strong!

At Least You're Still Pretty

One of my favorite new Occasion catalog stamp set is called Big On Birthdays, but it didn't start out that way.  In fact, when I first laid eyes on the stamp set I noticed one of the images was this large stamp that said, "at least you're still pretty" on it.

The stamp itself is pretty, but the words???? Um, I just don't get it?  I know I must be missing something but what exactly does this mean and how would you use it?  My confusion over this stamp caused me to flip the page of the catalog and decide not to buy the set.

However, every time I'd pass that set in the book I would see so much potential in all the other images because they were big, bold and beautiful.  So I decided to give in and buy the set and this is the first card I created with it.

Since I've been working on a lot of Valentine's cards, I decided to make this one Pink Pirouette and Real Red, which is one of my favorite color combinations this time of year.  I just love how bold this sentiment is and the fact that it has such pretty flowers on it.

So now that I owned this stamp set with the unusual image in it, I was determined to figure out a way to use it.

Since Pam had done such an over the top, amazing job with our Stamp Camp lunch boxes I wanted to send her a Thank You card.

Pam is an extremely busy person with a demanding job.  She is a wife and mom who is super supportive of anything her family is involved in.  Pam is also a great friend, always doing special things for others.  As hectic as her schedule can get, she always has a smile!

So naturally when it came time to create a card for Pam I chose the set Beautiful You!

www.stampedwithaloha.com

The beautiful sentiment on this card reminded me of the way Pam lives her life.  Living with passion, laughing out loud and loving others deeply!

Do you notice anything special about this card???   Look closely?????

Behind the "Beautiful You" image of this very fashionable woman is the "at least your still pretty" image.  I covered the words just enough so that the pretty border around the edges would show and now I have a perfect way to use this unusual stamp!

I joked with Pam the other day because she had a really crazy day, one of those days where from the moment she got out of bed things were going wrong.  I sent her a message that said.

" You're power was out, your water was off, you couldn't shower or brush your teeth, it was pouring down rain, you were late for a meeting, the freeway was closed, but....

at least you're still pretty"

She just laughed because she knew about my feelings towards the sentiment!

Maybe one day I'll understand the reason why this stamp made it into this set.  But until I do, I am glad I found the perfect way to use it as a pretty background stamp.

Linda's Special Day

Yesterday I went out to lunch with Linda who celebrated her birthday last week.  Linda is the wife of Pastor Jon who went home to be with the Lord in July.  Jon and Linda were inseparable and did ministry side by side for years so being without him has been a major adjustment for her and her family.

I was glad my friend Kristy and I were able to meet her at Kahala mall and take her to lunch to bless her on her special day.  Linda is a very kind and loving person who loves Jesus with all of her heart and is finding strength in Him each day to carry on.

Since I have been preparing for my weekend Holiday Catalog Stamp A Stack class and upcoming Holiday Stamp Camp, I have been stamping almost exclusively with our Holiday catalog stamps.  I decided to use a stamp from Here's to Cheer's to highlight a cake I stamped from the Build A Birthday stamp set that is featured in our regular catalog.

The color combination on this card is Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry.  I didn't feel the need to add any texture because the card was so colorful with the different cake layers I stamped.  I used my favorite mini flower from the Tree Builder Punch to add some jeweled flower embellishments.

We had a wonderful lunch together and I hope that its something we can do more often.

It is wonderful to be an encouragement and support to those whom God blesses your life with.  Its important to take time to let others know how loved they are and I hope that is how Linda felt on her special day.
