Joyce's Graduation

This past Saturday morning we attended the graduation ceremony of this beautiful girl, my daughter in love, Joyce!

The timing couldn't have been more perfect.  It was the day after my daughter Jessica's wedding which meant our extended family was in town and were able to be a part of Joyce's graduation and lei ceremony.

The giving and receiving of flower lei's is one of my most favorite traditions here in Hawaii.  I love flower leis, especially fragrant ones.  I remember seeing my first lei ceremony here and thinking how I would like to go back to school just so I could experience this beautiful tradition at graduation.  My husband, however, surprised me at my 40th birthday with a lei ceremony as I walked into a birthday party!  So I guess that saved us some money on school tuition had I gone back!  Haha!

We are very proud of Joyce and were all excited to be a part of her special day.  We didn't go in the actual ceremony but instead watched it online.  We were all together and cheered very loudly when her name was announced and she walked across the stage to receive her diploma.

We waited outside for her to arrive and when she did, the ceremony began.  Her family and friends gathered and began to adorn her with many celebratory leis and other things such as this cute frog floatation device that Brett and Jess signed for her.

Congratulations Joyce

It was fun to watch as family and friends covered her with leis and to see how happy she was to celebrate this huge accomplishment.

When putting a card together for Joyce I decided to scan her graduation announcement because I loved the photo on the front of it.  I then adhered her graduation photo to a folded card stock.  I added a thin strip of embossed gold foil and the word "congratulations" to the front of the card.

I folded the card stock so that this card could be used as a stand up photo frame.  Here is how the card looked from the side.

I popped up the inside sentiment with a dimensional so that the folded front of the card could latch behind it so this card could proudly display this stunning photo of our beautiful graduate Joyce!

We are all so thankful to celebrate Joyce on this very special occasion.  We know God has great things in store for her life and we are excited to see His plan and purpose revealed as she continues to put her hope and trust in Him.

Congratulations Joyce Gail!  We wish you happiness and joy on your special day!

Marquee Message for Rachael

This weekend my niece Rachael will be graduating from High School.  Here she is pictured with her grandparents and her "Big" little brother at her Baccalaureate ceremony.

Rachael lives in Washington State so sadly we are not able to attend her graduation.  I put a card and some leis in the mail yesterday in hopes they will arrive in time for her graduation ceremony and party.

Here is the card I created for Rachael.

The Marquee message set is great because it comes with a variety of messages that you can customize for the recipient.  Not only does this card uplift and encourage the recipient but on the inside it says, "So very proud of you" which makes it perfect for celebrating an event such as a graduation.   The color scheme for this card was easy because I followed Rachael's school colors, Red and Black.  I don't normally use this many pearls on a card but I was inspired by this amazing card I saw on Kim Williams blog last week.

Kim is an amazing stamper.  I really admire her unique style.  I often tease her that I can tell when I get a card from her in the mail because it weighs 5 lbs but aren't all her layers beautiful?  I love her use of the fine tip glue pen to create some dimension and shine on the letters.  You can read her post about this card by clicking here.

I am really loving this new Marquee Message stamp set.  Its unique and fun and so versatile.  I was glad I could use it to create a customized Graduation card for my neice.  I hope that Rachael will like this card and know how proud we are of all she's accomplished.

Gina's Graduation

Today I am dropping a graduation card in the mail for a very special college graduate named Gina.  I love the set Bear Hugs so I wanted to use it to create a card for Gina.

I stamped the bear with Early Espresso ink on Crumb Cake Card Stock and cut it out with the coordinating Bear Hugs framelit.  I then turned the cut out bear over and stamped it again so when I folded the arm you'd see the bears paw on the back.  The gown was made by using the same framelit and just cutting it a little bit with my paper snips.  The cap was also made with using the fish framelit from the Bear Hugs collection and cutting it in a couple of pieces and then piecing parts of it back together to form a cap.  The tassel was made by free cutting a small scrap of Daffodil Delight Card Stock.  The diploma is just a rolled up piece of white copy paper that is held in place with a glue dot.

The background was made with the Confetti Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I chose Real Red Card Stock to match Gina's school colors but you could easily change the background card stock color to coordinate with whatever school colors you needed for your graduate.

I was really happy with the outcome of this card and I hope Gina will like it too.  Since she already graduated a few days ago I'm in a rush to get this in the mail.  So I'm off to do that now.  With graduation season coming soon I hope this card has inspired you to use your Bear Hugs stamp set in a new, fun, creative way to make a card to bless the special graduates in your life.
