Paper Pumpkins

When you hear the word Paper Pumpkin you may be thinking I am referring to the awesome monthly Stampin' Up! craft kit you can subscribe to, but that's not it.  I am literally talking about a pumpkin that has been covered in strips of our beautiful Painted Autumn Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper to create a decorative fall home decor piece.

To create these fun decorative works of art I simply purchased plastic pumpkins at WalMart.  I then took one and a half pieces of Designer Series Paper and cut them into strips.  I then covered the strips with Mod Podge glue and adhered them to the plastic pumpkin.  I used hot glue to add some leaves at the top.

Since I host two separate Bunco groups each month,  I made two different pumpkins.  The one pictured above was the prize given at Sunday's Bunco.

Stampin' Bunco is so much fun.  We always have a great time.

The most unique thing happened at Sunday Bunco, Lori and Bea added up their score card and they had the exact same score in everything!

This has never happened before.  We declared them official Bunco Twins!

Something cute happened at Monday's Bunco too!  Becky won the pumpkin aloha prize early in the game and as she held it close she said, "this is my baby, please don't anyone take this from me".  Well as usual, the pumpkin got passed around all night until the last round when it ended up in the hands of Roxanne, Becky's daughter.  When Becky saw that her daughter won she stood up and said, "I think you should give that to me because giving birth to you was really hard, and remember I said that the pumpkin was my baby, just like you?"  Roxanne smiled and being the kind daughter she is she said, "Of course Mother, if you want it, you can have it".  We all laughed watching this exchange and both Mother and Daughter were blessed and went home like happy campers.

Monday's paper pumpkin that went home with Becky is the one below.  It is pictured along with one of the cute pizza box favors that everyone got at this month's bunco.

I LOVE our new pizza boxes.  They are so simple to make.  I really enjoyed working with this Pick a Pumpkin stamp set with coordinating framelits.

It's hard to tell in this photo but I also brushed "wink of stella" over the black pumpkin and words, "I am thankful for you", to make them shimmer.

I was really happy to give these favors to each of my guest because I truly am thankful for them all.  We laugh, we eat, we play, we really enjoy each others company.  When I told them that we may not have Bunco in December the response was moaning and groaning.  I love it that these friends love to come over and spend this time with me.  Who knows... maybe we'll have to find a way to have one in December after all!

For our October Bunco last year, I made Paper Pumpkin Aloha Prizes too, I think I shall make this a tradition as I enjoyed making these pumpkin prizes.   I am glad I had such pretty Designer Paper to work with.

Adventures In Seattle

I just returned home from my trip to Washington State.  I had a wonderful visit with family and friends there.   I also loved every minute I got to share in making new memories with my husband and the adventures we shared there as we celebrated our anniversary.  Although I don't like long plane rides, I LOVE to travel and feel blessed at every opportunity I get to visit new places and experience new adventures.

As soon as I arrived my mother in law and I hit the ground running.  I love to visit all the places that I don't get to go to in Hawaii so we had lunch at Panera Bread and went shopping at Hobby Lobby which is one of my favorite places for Home Decor.  I went there for one reason only and that was to pick up some decorations for my Downline Christmas party.  I passed by the Fall section where everything was 50% off and couldn't resist picking up a few of my favorite things but don't tell my husband cause he has banned me from buying anymore pumpkins... but did he say no more scarecrows?  I can't remember??

Later that evening, even though I had been up for over 24 hours, it was time to stamp.  I had some projects I needed to get done and my sister in law Jennifer graciously offered her stamp room and some of her supplies to help me out.  I was probably a little delirious from being so tired but we had fun and we were all productive.

I designed a gratitude journal for my Bunco Aloha prize that I will highlight in a future post.  Jen cut enough supplies so we could all make one.  This will be a great project to use in November during the season where we should all remember to be grateful and have thankful hearts for all God's blessings.  One of them being these ladies pictured here with me.

Jennifer celebrated her birthday last week so I hand carried her birthday card and gave it to her that evening.  Here is the card I created for her.

Jen's card featured the Pop of Pink specialty designer paper and the Balloon punch.

I love the combination of pink and black and it is fun to add a touch of gold.  I accented this card with gold sequins.

One of the things I was most looking forward to was to see the colorful falling leaves. I thought that maybe I was arriving a little too late to see them.  I was pleasantly surprised.

My sister in law Lisa invited me over to her house the next morning and it was a beautiful day.  This is her backyard.  Isn't it gorgeous?.  My brother in law build this fountain himself.  What a perfect setting for some fun on a crisp and sunny Fall day.

My niece who is an artist discovered that these leaves looked like lips so the three of us picked out our favorite shade of leaf and tried it on.  There was lots of giggles and laughter as we tried on different shades of leaf lipstick for our photo shoot.

We had a lot of fun playing in the leaves.  After all it way more fun to do that than to rake them.  I'm so glad I got to experience some Fall fun with my family.

After my husband arrived we planned an outdoor family adventure.  We went hiking to the Ice Caves in Granite Falls, Washington.  It was a family affair, led by the three Baughman brothers.

One thing I don't like is to be cold and wet at the same time.   However even though we got rained on the entire morning I didn't mind one bit.  I was never cold!  I had my waterproof gear on, it was a pleasant temperature outside so all was perfect.

The trail was absolutely breathtaking and it was fun to spend time with family.  I'd love to go back there again when the weather is clear cause I bet it would be even more beautiful.

The hike was super easy but we knew we were in good hands if anything came up because our nephew Jacob was with us and he is an Eagle Scout.

Although it was too wet to do some serious rock climbing we managed to scramble up to a few fun spots.

In the evening we had a family dinner and it was good to gather with everyone.

I also got to meet the newest member of the family, precious baby Aaron.  Isn't he adorable?

The next day we said Aloha to my wonderful In-Laws and headed to our final destination, downtown Seattle.

This was the view from one of the windows in our suite.  Although I've been to Seattle many times before, I have never stayed in the city.  It was an adventure in itself.

We walked down to the waterfront and I remembered the fun I had here on this wheel last spring with Zeny and Terry.  Derek and I didn't ride on this but chose to try a new attraction called the Wings over Washington.  It was a short ride but reminded us of all the beautiful places there are to see in Washington State.

The next morning we went to Snoqualmie Falls and enjoyed breakfast at the Salish Lodge.

We had been to the Falls years ago but this was the first time we had a meal at the Lodge.  It was wonderful.

We did some shopping and then headed back to our hotel cause after all today was GAME DAY and the reason why we traveled to Seattle in the first place.

Derek blessed me with tickets to an NFL game to watch the Seattle Seahawks play at Century Link Field as a gift for our 28th anniversary.  I was so excited to be there that I teared up when we passed through the gate.

Once inside I was happy to take a photo with  my favorite player in the world, Russell Wilson.  I love positive people, strong leaders, and people who serve others with humility and love.  That is just a few of the reasons why I love, support and cheer for this young quarterback who sets such a great example to the world.

It was fun to celebrate with all the 12's, I wonder if there were any other Hawaii 12's in the stands like us?

We're home now and I was able to hang up this early Christmas gift that Jennifer gave me. I'm so glad it arrived safely in my luggage as a smaller glass item I brought home was smashed to a million pieces.

Isn't this a beautiful piece of art that Jen made for me at a class she attended.  It is not exclusive Stampin' Up! products but I do recognize our card stock and some of our glimmer paper.

If you'll notice some of the paper used in this project is wrapping paper.  A couple of years ago Jennifer created a card using wrapping paper background that looked like this.

It was a great way to highlight one of our Stampin' Up! images on an official NFL wrapping paper back ground.  Using wrapping paper is a fun way to make your gift wrap and card match perfectly.

Well,  It was fun to share my a little about my adventures in Seattle with you and I hope you enjoyed the journey as well as seeing a few creative ideas along the way.
