Cookie Mama

One of the nick names I have for my friend Cindy is “Cookie Mama” because she makes the most delicious cookies that are so beautiful you don’t want to eat them! At our Home For The Holidays craft fair last weekend she introduced a new design, this double sided snowflake cookie.

Aren’t they beautiful?

Cindy is also extremely gifted at making Gingerbread Houses. Every year at our Home for the Holidays craft fair we look forward to seeing her display. I managed to take a quick picture as she was setting up her display.

When people come to purchase her gingerbread houses they often take a long time to choose which one they want because they are all so unique and special. It’s fun to closely examine all the special little details Cindy puts on each house, they are truly a labor of love.

Cindy just celebrated her birthday. Since her birthday is just before Christmas we often combine her birthday celebration with some late night Christmas shopping.

We didn’t have a particular theme for our birthday dinner for Cindy so I decided to create a card for her that would be appropriate for the Cookie Mama that she is!

Here is what I came up with…

Cookie Cutter Christmas Birthday Card

Cookie Cutter Christmas Birthday Card

I created Cindy’s card using the stamp set, Cookie Cutter Christmas. I embellished the gingerbread cookies with Santa’s Workshop Enamel Shapes. I added three balloons that were punched out with the Balloon punch in various colors. The sentiment comes from the stamp set Calls For A Celebration.

The background of this card was created with a new product, the Dot to Dot Textured Impressions Folder..that is from our new Occasions Catalog that will be available in January.

When Cindy opened her card she smiled and thought the gingerbread cookies were so cute.

As we headed out after dinner to shop we saw these decorative red ornaments. We instantly thought of our friend Lynn who we are missing so much since she moved to Seattle. We plan on sending her these pictures and hope that when she sees them she will remember how much we love and miss her.

I am thankful for the opportunity we had to celebrate Cindy’s special day!

Happiest Birthday Wishes to our sweet and talented friend Cindy aka, “Cookie Mama”, we are so grateful for you!

Did you notice that this Christmas season Festive Christmas sweaters were super popular?  They were being sold everywhere, even here in Hawaii where sweaters are something we rarely wear.  There were a few that I would consider to be "Ugly Sweaters" but for the most part many of the ones that I saw this year were super cute.  In fact, I was inspired to create a Festive Christmas Sweater card with our Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp set.

The cable knit embossing folder really makes this card.  It has quickly become one of my favorite new textured embossing folders and it works perfectly on this card because it so closely resembles a warm sweater.  To create the ribbed collar I used the simple score board.

I can't believe how quickly Christmas came this year.  Was it just me or did December just fly by for you too?  I can't believe we are only a few days away from New Years Eve?

It seems like it was just the start of the season and I was working on cards for Christmas card class such as this card below.

Merry Mice Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Merry Mice Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

This card was created using the Merry Mice stamp set.  I love to color but when I made this card my only choice was to color it with markers.  Did you know that in our new Occasions catalog we will now have the option coloring with Water Color Pencils?  I look forward to sharing them with you.  I am really glad we will have this new option for coloring SOON because coloring is something I love to do.

Our new occasions catalog and saleabration begins in just a few days, I am so excited.

As this wonderful Christmas Season comes to an end.  I am grateful for all the special times shared with family and friends.

One of the highlights for me was being on worship team for our Christmas Eve service at the Waipahu campus at New Hope Leeward.

New Hope Leeward Worship Team

New Hope Leeward Worship Team

It was a simple but beautiful service.   As we worshiped together, I was blessed by the heart of the congregation who sang their praises so beautifully.  I was touched by the hearts of my team mates who served so unselfishly with a heart to share their God given gifts and talents.  I was encouraged by Pastor Josiah's message to run with faith towards all God has for us in 2017 and I was moved to see the hearts of people who responded to the message to receive Christ into their hearts and lives.

Well, no matter how you spent this Christmas season, I hope it was blessed.

Enjoy the next few days of the year and if you are on Oahu, why don't you join me on New Years Day at New Hope Leeward?  We will be having a special New Years Day worship service and I will be leading the team for an extended worship time at the Kapolei campus.  It would be wonderful to have you join us at 7am, 9am or 11am.  You can find information by clicking here.  If you decide to come let me know and I'll be sure to look for you in the foyer after service.  I can't think of a better way to start the new year!

Until then I hope like me you are doing your best to enjoy the last few days of this very special time of the year.

Merriest Wishes to You and Blessings for a Bright and Happy New Year!

Cookie Cutter Creations

Tuesday night was my monthly Inspiration Night and I was really excited to share some fun Cookie Cutter Christmas Creations with all who attended.  The unique thing about this class is that I showed how to take a holiday stamp set and use it to create cards for other occasions!  I also paired Cookie Cutter Christmas with Suite Sayings so that only two stamp sets were used to create all of these cards with the exception of one additional stamp from Jolly Friends but I'll tell you about that in a minute.  Another common element of these cards is that they all use Candy Cane Lane Designer Series paper and they are also all embellished with various sizes of pearls.

For now, let's take a closer look at this fun boxed set of note cards.

The box itself is made of one of our clear mount stamp cases.  These cases are perfect for holding note card sized cards.  The layered circle on the front is from the Circles Collection framelits.  I love that this collection has both scallop circles and plain circles.  Layering the circles, as shown below,  makes a perfect background area for the focal point of a project,

Our first card was a birthday card with the same "pig tail" design that I shared about in my last post.  You can create pig tails by stamping the gingerbread man twice and then on one of them cutting the arm pieces and attaching them to the head with glue dots.  Two pearl buttons were added for dimension and texture.

The next card is a baby card.  Isn't this bear sweet?

When you create the bear you have to stamp the ears first and then the bear on a separate piece of card stock that gets punched out with the coordinating punch and layered over the top where you align it with the stamped ears.

The next card is one of my favorites.  When I was designing it I had a Tom Cruise movie playing in my stamp room.  In the movie Tom was wearing sunglasses and looking sharp.  Suddenly, I was inspired to put sun glasses  and a black tie on this gingerbread man so I drew some glasses with a sharpie pen.  However, just prior to hosting this class I received the stamp set Jolly Friends and I realized that the glasses in that set are the PERFECT fit for this guy so that is how I added an additional stamp set to this class.   Thanks to Tom for being my inspiration for this hand stamped creation!

Doesn't he look handsome and successful with his black tie and cool glasses?  These ladies at Inspiration Night certainly thought so.

I saved the BEST for last.  This punch art creation has been in my stamp room for weeks but I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it on a card.   This card was definitely the most work but also the one that everyone got the most excited about as you can see below.

Are you ready?  Here she is.

Cookie Cutter Christmas Mermaid Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

I just love this sweet mermaid.  She is made of punches.  Here is what you need.

The body, hair, bangs and mouth - Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  The hair and small flower - Tree Builder Punch.  The tail - Jolly Hat Builder Punch.  The end of the tail and shells - Holly Berry Punch.  The Large Flower - Blossom Builder Punch.

The Fabulous Foil Acetate is perfect for this card but it can be challenging to punch it out so either trace and cut it with scissors or if you want to punch it here are some tips.  First, remove the thin layer that covers the acetate.  Place a piece of copy  paper over and under the acetate before punching it to strengthen it and avoid getting it stuck in the punch.

Everyone's card came out a little bit different.  The way people angled the hair or placed the pearls all gave each Mermaid a different personality.

I loved seeing all these beautiful Mermaids come to life and loved even more watching how great of a time everyone had as they created this card.

I think the two who had the most fun where these two ladies below, Terry and Lori.

Lori took off her jacket and placed it on Terry's head to resemble the long red hair of the Mermaid that we all know she is at heart.  I think the photo and caption below, says it all!

In addition to making these fabulous projects the ladies all swapped some amazing Cookie Cutter Christmas swaps.  I don't normally host a swap that features a single stamp set but everyone in my group purchased this set because they loved it, so it was the perfect time to host an swap themed after a stamp set.

Everyone made such beautiful cards and watching them share them with one another was wonderful.

Of course we were also spoiled by Chef Craig's delicious dinner.  Tonight we had curry stew, rice and salad.  Craig takes such amazing care of us every month as he blesses us with his God given talent for preparing food that is created and served with aloha.

It is always so much fun to gather for my monthly Inspiration Night.  I love my Stamped With Aloha sisters who are so much fun to spend time with, even the "kolohe" (rascal) ones pictured below.

It was great to see all the smiling faces and know our time together was filled with inspiration, creativity, encouragement, fun and lots of aloha amongst us stamping sisters and friends.

I am so looking forward to our Holiday Stamp Camp this weekend and can't wait to share with you all about it soon.  Until then, I hope you've been inspired to create some fun "non" Christmas projects with this amazing stamp set.

If you live on Oahu and would like to take this class, I will be offering it on Saturday, November 12th at 10am at my home.  Cost is $15 and it comes with a package of pearls.  Sign up now to reserve  a spot for you and your friends.  It will be great to share these Cookie Cutter Creations with all of you.

Berd's Inspiration

A few days ago my friend Berd returned some stamping supplies she had borrowed from me.  In the box of supplies she blessed me with some card samples from her last class.

They were all super cute but this one was my favorite.

Cookie Cutter Christmas Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

I love the layout of this card.   Here are the basic measurements in case you want to recreate it like I did.

Take an 5 1/2 x 7 3/4 piece of Real Red Card Stock.  Lay it on the Simply Scored Board and score it at 1 3/4 and 6.  The inside piece is Whisper White card stock cut at 5 1/4 x 4.

I loved this card and layout so much that I created my own version for my monthly recognition cards that I will be giving out this week.

Here is the version I came up with that was inspired by Berd's card.

Cookie Cutter Christmas Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Cookie Cutter Christmas Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

The layout and colors are almost exactly the same.  I used Soft Suade to back the Designer Paper instead of Crumb Cake.  For the gingerbread cookie I added pig tails by stamping the image twice and cutting the arms on one of the images and adding them with glue dots to the head.  I used the back side of this Designer Paper from the Candy Cane Lane collection to punch two bows for the hair.

The Jewel Rhinestones were colored with a red sharpie pen.  I used a different sentiment too and I not only put one on the front but I also added the word Merry Christmas to the inside flap.  Both of these sentiments came from the stamp set Better Together.

One of the things I love about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is the way sister demonstrators so freely share ideas to inspire one another.  You rarely feel a competitive spirit amongst demonstrators but instead a spirit of sharing from people who love what they do and share what they love.  With the busy week I had prepping for next week's stamp camp Berd's inspiration couldn't have come at a better time and I am so thankful that she is not only my stamping sister but also a very dear friend.

Thank you Berd for being such an inspiration to me this week!  I so love and appreciate you!
