A "Be Dazzled" Blessing!

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to stamp with a group of ladies at Data House in Honolulu.  The purpose of our gathering was to provide for a team building activity in an intimate atmosphere so I taught these three cards to two separate groups.

Two of the cards are cards you may have seen before on my blog.  However, the card in the middle was newly designed for this group.

When I am with a group that I am unfamiliar with I love to show them the Botanical Blooms stamp set.   This set it is very popular here in Hawaii where we are blessed to see tropical foilage like this on a daily basis.  It also has matching framelits that are absolutely beautiful and it is fun to show everyone how they can create beautiful 3D flowers to embellish their creations.

Let's take a closer look at this tropical Thank You card.

This set is so pretty and it gets a "WOW" response anytime anybody sees is being used, especially when the second layer of ink is added and it makes the flower or leaf look so realistic.  I used three different color of ink pads on this card, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Watermelon Wonder.  I showed them how with the Watermelon ink you stamp the first generation of ink on a scrap paper and then on your card to create a lighter color so that when you stamped the center of the flower it would show up better.  Taking off the first generation of ink on a scrap paper is a great way to do two step stamping with only one ink pad.  After stamping all the flowers and leaves, we sponged or "shooked" the edges of the card stock with Old Olive Ink to soften it and give it a move vintage look.

It was a great experience stamping with these ladies and watching how they interacted with each other.  It seemed like everyone was having a really great time so that made me very happy.

One of the things I loved is that as a part of this stamping session they made 6 cards, 2 of each of the designs.  However, they were asked to use one of the cards to bless someone in their office with words of encouragement.   I think this was such a great idea and showed me what a great heart this company has for excellence, unity and teamwork!

The ladies, even some who have never stamped before, were extremely gifted and talented.  I loved seeing all the creative things they did outside the box with the supplies I gave them.

Speaking of the supplies I gave them.... I had brought only enough rhinestones to the first session for each of them to have two per card.  So imagine my surprise when I went to one of the stations half way through the class to discover that the rhinestones were almost GONE!

It was quite funny as those who had used extra realized there had been a limit and were apologetic but it all worked out and we all had a good laugh when we noticed extra rhinestones on some of the cards.  I knew I had better stock up for the next session for these ladies who loved to "Be Dazzle" their creations.

Just check out these cards from the next session!  These ladies liked the Rhinestones even better than the first group.  Good thing I brought plenty.

Instead of coloring their card with markers these creative ladies simply added 6 or 7 rhinestones per card and even 2 or 3 MORE Rhinestones on the envelope.    I have to admit it these cards are REALLY, REALLY pretty and SUPER sparkly!  Looks like a card that was made for royalty!  Wouldn't you love to receive a "Be Dazzled" card like one of these?

It was great to spent this creative evening with these wonderful ladies.  They also provided very colorful and fun refreshments.  Just look at these beautiful sandwiches made with this colorful Japanese bread.  These turkey sandwiches were not only pretty but delicious too.

It is always a blessing spending time with others creating and having fun together.

I especially loved being with these gifted and talented women and having an opportunity to witness the aloha spirit that they share in their office.  Stamping with them is something I hope to do again and now that I know them a little more I will be sure to bring projects that are Be Dazzled and beautiful just like these amazing women at Data House!

A Beautiful Blessing

Last week I had another enjoyable evening stamping in Kaneohe with a wonderful group of ladies.  As I was waiting for the class to begin Shirley came in and shared a story with me about one of the cards she had made in class two weeks before.  Shirley's friend had recently been diagnosed with some very serious health challenges and she took this card to that person to let them know that she was thinking of them and praying for them.   This is the card that she shared.

As she shared the details of the situation and her visit,  I was so touched to see that something we had created in class was already being used to brighten the day of someone who needed encouragement.   I hugged Shirley and thanked her for sharing her story with me.

It's moments like these that make me feel so grateful to have the opportunity to use creativity to make a difference!

It was now time to begin class and all the lovely ladies arrived.  Each one of them has become such a blessing to me and I so look forward to stamping with them each week.

Here are the cards I taught them this week.

Our theme for the evening was Beautiful Blessings and Blossoms which featured cards with flowers on them.  The black and white card on the left and the floral card in the center are both created with images from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

Card one celebrates the Blessing of Friendship and displays a single flower that has been colored with Stampin Write markers.  The Calypso Coral strip on the left side has been textured with the Lovely Lace Textured Embossing folder.

As I demonstrated this card one of the ladies pointed out that Barbara pretty floral shirt matched our card perfectly.

What a beautiful card created by Beautiful Barbara!

The next card is very simple but elegant and only uses a basic black ink pad.  It just so happened that Ann had on the perfect outfit to match this card as well.

This card is elegant and beautiful just like Ann is, she was the perfect model.

For the greeting on this card I used the stamp set Rose Wonder which has coordinating framelits that create this nice front label.  Rose Wonder has amazingly beautiful sentiment stamps in it, including this one that I used here that says, "What a Beautiful Blessing You Are".

The final card was a Botanical Blooms card.

It was great to hear all the ladies gasp when I stamped the red centers of the flowers.  Two step stamping usually gets that reaction, especially when done in front of people who have never seen it before.  The Botanical Blooms set has so many beautiful images but I kept things simple with a combination of Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Old Olive.  This stamp reminds me of my favorite Hibiscus called, the Hula Girl.

As you can see I purposely layered the sentiment over a flower that had been stamped underneath to add dimension.

Well... that wraps up last weeks session and tonight I am heading back there one last time.  I have to admit I'm a bit sad because I've so enjoyed this wonderful gathering of women who I've been  honored  to spend a creative hour each week for the past 4 weeks.

Meeting and stamping with them has truly been a Beautiful Blessing!

Belated Birthday Blessing

On Friday, I received this beautiful birthday card in the mail from my sister in law Jennifer.  Jennifer is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in Washington State and she is an incredibly gifted crafter!

I love her use of the Fluttering butterfly embossing folder and how it provided and interesting and beautiful textured background to this card.  I also love how Jennifer sponged the edges of the leaves, that little bit of shading really makes these beautiful monstera leaves pop!

Jennifer knows that pink and black is one of my favorite color combinations and she also knows that I love the Botanical Blooms stamp set so I appreciate her taking the time to add those special elements to this card.

I know Jennifer was concerned about her card being late but actually the day it arrived I also was having a belated Movie Night In to celebrate my birthday with my friends so the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Thank you Jennifer for your very creative birthday card.  I so appreciate your love and thoughtfulness to think of me by making such a special personalized creation.  Belated or not, it was certainly a very special blessing!!!
