Here Today, Gone To Maui

Saturday was such a wonderful day.  I flew to Maui early in the morning and my friend Cheryl picked me up at the airport.  Cheryl is a demonstrator from Maui and the leader of her group, the Maui Big Shots!  We had such a wonderful time sharing together.  Spending time with Cheryl reminded me once again of why I love being a part of Stampin' Up! so much.  Although we do the same job, you rarely feel a competitive Spirit amongst demonstrators.  Instead what you often find is sharing, encouragement, and love.  That is exactly what happened when Cheryl and I met.  Through sharing our stories, I was really encouraged and we made plans for more get togethers in the near future.

Cheryl and Cindy

Cheryl had an event that day at her home and I wish I could have attended.  I would have loved to see some of her group because they have come to some of my events on Oahu before and they are just wonderful.

I always look forward to seeing them.  Cheryl and I are working at finding a way we can get our groups together in the near future.

The reason I couldn't attend Cheryl's event was because I was actually in Maui to visit with my friend Jodi and her husband Dave who were there celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary.  Jodi is a dear friend whom I met during my Freshman year at Spring Arbor College in Michigan.   Jodi is one of those special friends whom you don't see often but when you do, you just pick up where you left off.  The last time we had spend time together was 13 years ago.  So right after breakfast, Dave and Jodi picked me up and we set out for a day of adventure!

Jodi and Cindy in Maui

I can't believe how much we did in just a few hours.  We went to a Bakery,  then shopping in Wailea and Lahaina, ate lunch at Tommy Bahama, swam in the pool at her condo and went out for one of the best sweet treats I have ever had and ended the day at Starbucks by the airport.

Island Cream Company

The sweet treat we had was from the Island Cream Company.  This special cream made of all fresh, local ingredients is unique and SOOOOOO Delicious.  It's not ice cream and its not gelato, but almost like the perfect combination of both.  It has the creamiest texture and choosing what flavor is hard because so many look so good!!!  Their motto is, "We Make Cravings" and you know what?? It's so true.  If I didn't have to leave the island that evening I probably would have went back the next day.

Since Jodi spent her entire trip on the island of Maui, I wanted to bring her something special from Oahu.  So I went to one of my favorite local boutiques, Manuhealii and purchased two zippered pouches to give as a gift to her.

Manuhealii Pouches

Manuhealii makes the most beautiful clothing and accessories.  It makes choosing what to buy difficult because there are so many gorgeous things to purchase.   I love Monstera, so when I saw this pattern on these zippered pouches. I chose to buy Jodi two of them.

The design and color of the two pouches inspired the card I created for Jodi with our new Tropical Chic Stamp set and Tropical Thinlits.

I just LOVE this set so much.  Even with these non traditional colors it still looks amazing.  For the sentiment I chose a stamp from the Love What You Do stamp set.  I also added one of the cute wooden Tropical Elements as an embellishment.

The colors, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy were a perfect match to the pouches and Jodi seemed really happy and surprised to receive this gift.  That made me feel really happy too!

The day was absolutely beautiful from start to finish.

As we said goodbyes, we vowed to not let another 13 years go by until we see each other again!

As I flew home, I felt so happy and thankful!  It was a blessing to have had the opportunity to spend a day in a beautiful place with such beautiful people who I am grateful to call my friends.
