Yesterday, I received a special surprise! My Mom called and said she and my Dad were at my house. I went outside to greet them and my Dad (who has dementia) smiled and handed me a bouquet of roses.
It wasn't my Birthday, Anniversary or Valentines Day. I was having a challenging day though, preparing for a routine surgical procedure that happened today! I suppose that is why my parents wanted to give me something to brighten my day. These beautiful flowers and their unexpected visit certainly did.
I am home now and feeling so good that I was able to open up some of my Stampin' Up! new catalog products. The first thing I decided to create was a Thank You card for my parents to let them know how much I appreciated their sweet and kind gesture yesterday. I chose to use the set Healing Hugs and created a card that was inspired by their thoughtful gift.
I LOVE this set Healing Hugs. This set is a part of our exclusive Stampin' Up! Distinktive Stamp Collection. Distinktive stamps are made with a special texture that gives depth and dimension without having to do two step stamping. To learn about these amazing new stamps and watch this actual stamp set being demonstrated click on the video link here. Since two step stamping is my favorite technique, Distinktive stamps are definitely my new favorite type of stamp!!!!
Did you notice that this card had a cropped front? Here is how you can cut your card stock to create this type of card.
Take a piece of Whisper White card stock that has been cut at 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 and score it at 4 1/4. If you use the Stampin' Trimmer you can cut and then score the card stock because our trimmer does both. I used my Healing Hugs Distinktive stamps to stamp 3 Roses and Leaves on a piece of 2 3/4 x 5 Whisper White Card Stock. I used two new colors on this card, Lovely Lipstick and Granny Apple Green. I backed the stamped piece with a piece of coordinating Lovely Lipstick Card Stock that was cut at 3 x 5 1/4.
On the inside of the card I adhered a 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 Basic Black card stock that I had embossed with our new Tufted Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder. It's hard to see it in the image in the photo below but it is a bit more clear in the final photo of this post. It's a great new Embossing folder, I know I will use it a lot.
I then glued the embossed strip to the inside bottom of the card.
For the sentiment on this card I stamped the word "Thank You" using a stamp from our Accented Blooms stamp set. I then punched it out with the Tailored Tag punch and then used Paper Snips to trim off the white border. I then punched a piece of Silver Foil Paper with the Tailored Tag punch to use as a backing. I adhered this to the front of the card so that it hung off the cropped edge of the card front.
Well, I am off to put this card in the mail for my parents! I hope when they receive it this week it will serve as an unexpected stamped blessing of love and appreciation.
My next monthly Stamp A Stack class is on Saturday, June 23rd at 10am or Sunday, June 24th at 2pm. I will be teaching 4 card designs that feature my favorite new catalog products. You can bet that this set Healing Hugs will be a part of that class! I can't wait to see and hear the reactions of all my stampin' friends when they use this fabulous new set for the first time.
If you would like to attend one of my classes, be sure to contact me and let me know.
