Last week we had a very exciting thing happen in our family. Kalani proposed to his girlfriend Joyce! The proposal was a surprise and Kalani did an amazing job coordinating a very special evening for this momentous occasion.
Joyce thought she was headed to a barbecue at a rented beach house. Although she was indeed being led to a rented beach house, there was no barbecue!
The proposal site was beautiful. Kalani had a plan that led Joyce through a beautiful house and ended in the backyard. From start to finish Kalani's master plan worked out perfectly.
It was a blessing for all of us to be there for this very special moment.
Just after their proposal Kalani and Joyce headed off to celebrate at a private dinner in Waikiki.
The rest of us stayed back and then realized that we had forgotten to take a photo with the happy couple before they left. So the only photo I had moments after the engagement was of me and Brett (Jessica's boyfriend). I hope that you can tell by our expressions what a happy moment it was for us all.
When Kalani and Joyce arrived at their special dinner there was a bouquet of roses and a hand stamped card waiting for them at their table. I had stamped it that day and dropped it off on my way to the engagement.
Here is the card I made for them.
The background of this card was textured with our new Sweetheart Textured Embossing folder. The heart shaped sentiment stamp is from our Born To Be Loved stamp set which is on page 103 of our Stampin' Up! catalog. I fussy cut the leaves out after stamping them with Garden Green ink. The ornate flowers were made with the Rose Garden Thinlits and embellished with our new Clear Faceted Gems. I also added a few tiny jeweled flowers that were punched from the Tree Builder Punch.
After their engagement someone said to me "Congratulations, you're going to be a Mother In Law"? The funny thing is, I hadn't even thought about that. However that comment just made me smile and think, "No, Not a Mother in Law but a Mother in LOVE. I really do love Joyce and am excited for her to officially be a part of our family. I'm really looking forward to the day they will become man and wife!
Congratulations Kalani and Joyce, we truly are SO happy for you!
