This week has been one of the hardest weeks of going through radiation treatments. On Monday I had only 4 treatments left but I was having some problems with my skin that I thought might delay the completion of my treatments. My doctor met with me and told me that I should continue and gave me some medication to help me with my skin issues.
Although I am uncomfortable in my current situation there are things that I try and focus on. First, I know God is in control and I am grateful that He is watching over me. Second, I know that what I am going through is nothing compared to others who are facing obstacles that make my challenges pale in comparison. Third, I am blessed because I have such an amazing support system around me. I have friends who are checking on me daily via phone calls and texts. I have family that go out of their way to express so much love and care for me as I've been in this battle. I also have friends who have taken time out of their busy schedule to drive me to treatment, to come over and visit me and to sacrifice time to help me with my stamping business.
My friend Anna is one of those friends. Anna came by today to offer me a ride to treatment just as she did last week. Sometimes I can't predict whether I will need a ride or not but today was one of those mornings where I really felt bad and having her pick me up was a huge blessing. Even while we drove into town she sensed my tiredness and encouraged me to lay the seat back and rest.
I miss this girl. I really enjoyed singing with her on the Worship Team at New Hope Leeward. Since I've stepped off team Anna has given even more time to help lead the congregation and team. It is always good to spend time with her. Anna has such a positive outlook and encouraging spirit. Being with her today, on a day that I wasn't feeling well was just the medicine I needed to make me feel better.
This past Saturday Anna celebrated her birthday so another benefit of being with her today was that I was able to give her the card I made for her.
Anna is a professional singer so I chose to use the stamp called Sheet Music to provide the background for her card. The rest of the card was stamped with a new set called Beautiful Bouquet. I chose bright colors because Anna is a vibrant person with a bright smile and personality to match.
Later in the day I received this photo from Anna. I am glad receiving this birthday card made her smile.
Well, I made it through today and now the countdown begins, only TWO more treatments and hopefully this season will be nearing its end.
Until then, I continue to remain positive and grateful for my many blessings which includes a wonderful friend like Anna who helped me make it though another day!
