I love traditions, especially during the holidays. One of my favorite holiday traditions is going to Ballet Hawaii's presentation of the Nutcracker to support my friend's daughter named Aria.
I can't remember how many years we've been doing this but this photo was taken in 2010 and I know this wasn't the first year we watched her dance.
When ever I see Nutcracker images I think of Aria and even wonder what I could create to take to her after the show.
This year our Stampin' Up! Christmas Around the World Designer Series paper had a gorgeous Nutcracker sheet in it. I used this colorful paper to create a set of note cards for the holidays.
One of the things I love about the ballet is the beautiful costumes that sparkle and shine as the dancers spin across the stage. When creating this set of cards I used a piece of Christmas Around the World Paper as well as a shiny or sparkly strip of paper on the side. This card here features a piece of Copper Foil that runs up the edge.
There is also a beautiful scene in the ballet where snow falls. Since I live in Hawaii and don't get to see snow fall that often it makes a scene like that something I really appreciate and love. This card celebrates a beautiful snowy day and has a strip of dazzling diamonds glimmer paper that sparkles like a blanket of freshly fallen snow.
The final card in this set features all different kinds of transportation making holiday deliveries. I love the little snowman in the red wagon and hope that someone would deliver him to my home where he could live with all the snowmen friends who live in my kitchen every year. This card features one of my favorite speciality papers, red glimmer paper!
All of these cards are packaged together in a Acetate card box. I added a simple label on the front and strategically placed it so it would cover the sentiment that is on the Nutcracker card inside the box.
Last weekend Jessica and I went to watch the Aria dance again. My mother in law was in town so she was able to come with us.
Even though we've been watching for years, I have to say that this year was my absolute favorite. We had great seats and during the second half Karin (Aria's Mom) joined us so she was able to help us spot all the scenes that Aria was in.
After the show we waited at the stage door for our favorite ballerina to come out. Since we attended a matinee show she had one more performance that evening. You can tell that Aria is really passionate about ballet. It has been so special to watch her year after year grow and develop into such a beautiful ballerina.
Even though I just went to the show, I can't wait to get my tickets for next year! If you haven't seen it, I highly encourage going, especially because of the "Hawaiian" flare that was added to the show last year.
Congratulations Aria on a job well done! We enjoyed every minute of this special holiday tradition.
