The other day Lynne called and asked if I wanted to go shopping with her. Lynne was shopping for a dress for a special event. I think she called me because she knows I love to shop, especially with friends. Lynne is very fashionable, she always dresses in neutral colors such as black, navy and cream. I had little bit of fun as I pulled dresses for her, trying to convince her to try Cranberry or Plum or perhaps something printed.
Even though the shopping trip wasn't a success for Lynne, we made lots of fun memories such as when we tried on the same printed dress. We are all smiles in this Matchy-Matchy moment.
It was funny when she teased me, like my friend Karin does about my habit of not taking off my jeans when trying on dresses. If I like a dress WITH my jeans on, then I'll take them off to make my final decision, but I have to like it enough to make the effort. That's a part of my speed shopping expertise.
As we prepared to celebrate Lynne's birthday we asked her where she'd like to have dinner. Lynne said to surprise her with someplace new that we had not been before. We chose Ethiopian Love in China Town.
I had been there once and really liked it. What I didn't know is that on Friday nights, which is when we went, they have live music. The restaurant has great atmosphere, wonderful service and delicious food.
This was our dinner. Just look at this huge plate next to the tiny birthday girl. Most of these dishes are vegetarian with the exception of a lamb stew. The bread is called injera. It is light and spongy. You pick it up, unroll it, grab something from this plate and eat it, with your right hand of course! Everything was delicious.
At the end of our meal, we gave Lynne this card that I had made with the stamp set Beautiful You.
Can you see how I combined Lynne's favorite neutral colors to create this card? All of the dresses and hats pictured here were fussy cut. My favorite dress is the black glimmer paper one. Of course I love the vanilla hat with the flower too.
The inside of the card had a very appropriate message!
It was another wonderful "ladies night out" celebrating our gorgeous friend Lynne.
At most restaurants we go to we end up getting kicked out in the most subtle ways because we stay too long. We've had people sweep around our table, clear all our dishes and suggest several times "can I get you anything else"?. We've even had people ask us to leave because they need our table!!! At our last gathering the fire alarm mysteriously went off which meant we had to go.
Ethiopian Love was the FIRST place we went to that we didn't feel rushed, in fact as we were leaving around 10:00 pm, they were still seating people and taking orders! Perhaps we have found the new perfect place for a relaxing late night celebration!
We took a photo as we normally do to remember this night. Do you see that we all dressed in black in honor of our fashionista friend Lynne? She joked as she got in the car that she was going to put on a bright patterned dress that evening to surprise us!! That would have been funny.
It was a wonderful night out celebrating beautiful Lynne. I am blessed to call her not only my shopping buddy, but also my sister and friend.
Happy Birthday Beautiful Lynne!
