Last week several of my stampin sisters and I got together to make cards for Roanna's family. They were in need of "Thank You" cards. Several of my downline and friends had asked what they could do to help, so I shared this need and they took immediate action. Some friends that were close to the family dropped cards directly to them while stopping by to visit them or taking them a meal. Others asked if they could stop by my house and contribute cards for this cause. A few others came over for a couple of hours so we could "talk story" and be creative together, doing something that Roanna would have loved.
The family requested that we don't follow any particular theme or pattern. They just needed Thank You cards and told everyone to stamp them in their own unique way. It was really great to see all the beautiful creations that were stamped with aloha to bless Roanna's family.
Here are all the cards that were created at or dropped off at my home that evening.
My card was created with the Rose Garden thinlits. I have to say that the new Big Shot platform is totally worth the investment. It made it so EASY to create this beautiful cut out rose pattern. Prior to adhering the black rose cut out card stock, I stamped the exact image with black ink and colored it in with an aqua painter and stamp pads. I carefully added glue to the back of the delicate rose cut out and lined it up on top of the stamped rose. The background of this card is Pear Pizzaz which was one of Roanna's favorite colors. I attached a punched out jeweled flower to add sparkle, something I often do on my creations.
Norine has such a beautiful style. Her card is stamped in one of our newest In Colors Sweet Sugarplum.
I love the layering on this card and the gentle splatter stamped on it to soften it and make it look so elegant. Norine is such a humble yet talented stamper. Her customers and friends just love her classes!
Next up is Lori. She created a variety of cards featuring Designer Series Paper and punched out flowers. Lori is very busy with work and family so I really appreciate her stopping by to drop off these cards for the family. One thing I appreciate about Lori is she is always joyful with a smile on her beautiful face.
Let's take a closer look at her card.
Both Lori and I used the same "Thank You" sentiment from the set One Big Meaning which is an amazing set for Thank You cards because it features 7 different Thank You sentiments in different fonts all in one stamp set.
Berd stopped by quickly to deliver these beautiful cards created with this Bird of Paradise Paper from the Botanical Gardens DSP that was in our last Occasions catalog.
I love Berd's simple style of stamping. She lives a very busy life with work, family, coaching, softball and baseball so she is a great example of someone who can teach you how to make beautiful cards that are quick and simple to make, with NO coloring cause that is not her favorite thing to do, LOL.
When Lori showed us her cards (below) it was great to see how she and Berd came up with cards using the same designer paper and the lay out of the card was very similar too!
Just goes to show you how I am blessed to be surrounded by such talent and also that great minds think alike!
Here is a close up of Lori's two cards.
This butterfly one was really fun, with a unique fold on the front. Lori said that making this card is simple because you just use your paper cutter to cut a straight line in the middle of the designer paper and then fold it back carefully to create this look. The great thing about our Designer Paper is that there is a pretty pattern on both sides so Lori shows us how you can see both sides of the paper by doing this technique.
Cyndie, Pam and I shared lots of laughs while creating together. These two have been especially helpful to me in the past couple of weeks and I am so grateful for their love and friendship as well as their sense of humor!
Aren't their cards beautiful? Let's take a closer look.
Most of this card was created by using the stamp set Butterfly Basics. The Butterfly however comes from the Wonderful Wings set. I think combing these two sets produces and absolutely gorgeous card.
Pam's card is SUPER cute too. Pam made this card with a brand new stamp set called Live, Love and Grow. It is a really unique set that allows you to make all kinds of different arraignments with these beautiful succulents. I think Pam did a great job on this card she was probably inspired by the beautiful garden her husband built her in her backyard where her plants are thriving and growing like crazy!
The next card was created by Tammy who had attended our Holiday retreat and really enjoyed Roanna's presentation as well as getting to know Roanna that day. Tammy stamped this beautiful monochromatic card using two of Roanna's favorites, the color green and flowers!
Terry followed the same color scheme as Tammy. They both used the color green and flowers! As Terry stamped she shared about the plans she and Roanna were making to do some holiday classes together. Terry and Roanna were childhood friends who had been reunited through Stampin' Up!. It was nice to hear how Terry plans to do her best to continue stamping and finish the goals that she had set with her dear friend.
I thought it was so thoughtful that these ladies thought of honoring their friend by choosing elements that they know she loved.
Finally, here is Michelle's card. Again, can you see how great minds think alike? Shades of Green, elegant flowers and an oh so beautiful creation created by Michelle who is like this card is so beautiful inside and out.
All in all we blessed the family with around 200 cards that were stamped with much love and aloha. It was a blessing to see the smile on Roanna's daughters face when I delivered these cards. She told me what a blessing it was to have these because she said, "there was NO way we could have sent out store bought cards, Mom wouldn't have approved".
It was so touching to hear at her memorial service just how much Roanna loved to craft. Her daughters shared that even when she was tired and supposed to rest, she still found moments to sneak into her stamp room and create. It brought her joy and it made her happy!
Today A "memory" popped up on my Facebook from one of our stampin' events together. Its moments like these that we will all remember fondly.
All of us were blessed that we had the opportunity to be a part of her stampin family and spend time stamping with her as well as being inspired by her.
I hope as her family writes in each one of these cards they will feel the aloha that was put into each element of these creations. I also hope that as they say "Thank You" to others they will know how Thankful we were for our time with Roanna. She was loved by all of us and will be dearly missed.
