This past weekend I hosted my monthly Stampin' Bunco. Our theme this month was Christmas In July featuring the Christmas Peace stamp set as well as the This Christmas Specialty Designer Paper. The paper is featured below on our special Aloha Prize which this month was this elegant Holiday planner.
I LOVE the energetic atmosphere at Bunco. The ladies (and sometimes gents) who attend are so fun to spend time with.
When these ladies pictured in the middle heard it was a Christmas theme they decided to show up wearing Holiday colors decked out with their jingle bell necklaces. It was so cute, I had to run upstairs and put on a Holiday shirt to join them! Goldie just happened to be dressed in green so she fit right in!
Not only did people get into the Holiday Spirit with what they wore but just look at these beautiful treats that people brought to share.
Bea made these yummy candy apples that were bright and colorful and reminded me of Fall.
Pam also made something colorful and fun, a red and green salad made with watermelon!. This salad was so refreshing and was made with some delicious fresh mint that Pam grew in her own garden. Can you see the little bits of Feta cheese in the salad too? It was so delicious.
Just look at these adorable cupcakes that Shelly brought. They were so pretty and tasted as good as they looked. I so appreciate Shelly taking the time to decorate them so we could all get into the Holiday Spirit.
The games on both days were such fun. My house was filled with laughter, cheers, and an overwhelming amount of JOY, just the way I like it.
When the games ended 6 people went home with prize bundles and everyone went home with a stamped favor and a sore stomach from laughing so much.
A funny moment this month happened on Monday night when Ann went into the bathroom and we were waiting for her to start the next game. Two of the Kolohe (rascal) players, Lori and Terry started to bang on the wall like a hula dancer would hit an Ipu (Hawaiian gourd used in Hula Dancing) and then the bathroom door opened and out came Ann, hula dancing back to her seat, not missing a beat.
Our favors this month were these quick and simple wrapped Holiday nuggets.
To wrap the nuggets all you need is a 3 x 1 piece of Designer Paper. The new This Christmas Paper works great because it is lightweight and easy to wrap. I chose four different patterns and wrapped four nuggets per favor. We have brand new 2 x 8 sturdy cellophane bags that are just the right size to hold the nuggets. To make it a little more finished looking, I created a foundation piece of card stock by cutting a 2 x 4 piece of cherry cobbler card stock and scoring the side edges at 1/2 each.
After scoring 1/2 inch on each side, I folded them up and slid them in the bag and then carefully placed the nuggets on top of it. The cello bag was 8 inches high so I could have easily added more nuggets but I stopped at four nuggets simply because I had purchased two bags of candy and I had exactly enough nuggets to accommodate the 28 people who would be attending bunco. If you would want to make this favor with more nuggets then simply adjust the pattern by an inch. For 5 nuggets cut your card stock at 2 x 5, for six nuggets make it 2 x 6. Easy Peasy!
When everyone left the sign up sheet for next month was almost FULL. That makes me SO happy to know that people had such a good time and will look forward to coming back again next month.
I hope that in addition to all the good food and good fun that they were inspired by these two Stampin' ideas and will now have some inspiration to plan ahead for the upcoming Holiday season!
With a little advanced planning we can all experience more peace this Christmas which is a really good thing to hope for!
