July is special because we celebrate the birthday of not one but two Baughman girls, Jessica and Alesha. They are cousins that rarely get to see each other because they live an ocean apart but when they do it is always special and fun. These two girls share many things in common. They are both very kind, loving, fun, artistic and CREATIVE. This photo was taken about 5 years ago on one of the rare occasions that they were able to celebrate together here in Hawaii.
This year they had something else in common, they both received a "dino"-rrific birthday greeting from me.
This all started when I asked my daughter Jessica what kind of card she wanted this year. I told her to give me a challenge. She said, "How about a flowery card, with a dinosaur on it and can you make the dinosaur eating a pineapple?" Well, being someone who is always up for a challenge, I went for it and this was the outcome.
Little did she know that with all the fabulous products Stampin' Up! offers, a challenge like this was totally do-able.
Since Alesha's Birthday is just a few days after Jessica's I remembered that she was a fan of dinosaurs too. Just look at this photo of her from this past Christmas Day.
Jessica sent this Dinosaur onesize to Alesha for Christmas and she said it was the most comfortable thing she has ever worn and as you can see in the photo below, I believe her.
So knowing Alesha was a dinosaur loving adventure girl like Jessica, I went ahead and created a similar card for her.
Here is Alesha's Dino-rrific card!
I love that this card not only tells her Happy Birthday but also how AWESOME I think she is.
Sadly, another birthday passed where we were not able to celebrate together. However, I was blessed to receive this photo of Alesha opening her card (above) and it looks like she approves.
Its nice to know that when you send a hand stamped greeting it usually produces a smile when the envelope is opened.
Jessica was all smiles with her card as well but I'm not sure if she was smiling about the card or about the company sitting to her right.
Jessica's boyfriend Brett had joined us this evening and he had a surprise in store for her too. You see a short time before her birthday he approached me asking if he could come over and make a card for her.
It was fun to watch him work so diligently choosing different stamps that he knew would make her smile.
The end result was a custom made card that featured a few of Jessica's favorite things. I love it that he took the time to use Stampin' Up! products to create a special card for Jess that I know she will love. At the same time he racked up lots of brownie points with me just by asking to come to my stamp room to make her a card.
This card he created he saved for her actual birthday but on the night we took her out as a family a few days prior to her actual day, he gave her a decoy card. As you can see from the photo below, she was thrilled with it not just because of how it looked but because of what it said on the inside.
Proof once again that hand stamped cards are "smile" makers.
What a blessing it has been to watch Alesha and Jessica grow up to be such remarkable young women. Two of the most kindhearted I know. I am glad to see their smiles and know that they both had a Dino-RRific time celebrating their special days.
