For Father's Day this year I created cards with two of our newest in colors, Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy. I made cards for my Dad, my husband and for a couple friends at church to let them know how much I appreciated them.
My Father In Law will be coming to visit soon, so we are waiting to celebrate Father's Day with him and I have a different stamp set in mind for his card. I love it that we can use Stampin' Up! products to customize cards for the ones we love.
My Dad's card was created with Guy Greetings. I used a our new Sparkle embossing folder and new in color enamel shapes to embellish. My Dad smiled when he opened it. He can't say as many words as he used to but he always smiles and always sets a good example for me to follow of someone who demonstrates gentleness, kindness and love in all he does.
I fussy cut the banner over the top of the two punched circles. The bottom circle was created using gold foil paper to add shine. The Sparkle embossing folder provided just the right texture to finish the top layer of this card.
This next card was a quick and simple card note card that I made to one of the Dad's who would be serving with me at church on Father's Day. I wanted him to know how much I appreciated his service and sacrifice on his special day.
For my husband's card, I used a combination of Badges and Banners and Guy Greetings. I stamped and punched the stamp that said, "The Best Friend Anywhere Ever" and covered the word "friend" with the word "husband" from Guy Greetings. Either word would work for my husband but since it was Father's Day I wanted him to know that I so appreciated him as a Husband and Father for all he does for us as a family. He truly is a remarkable man and it has been such a blessing to be married to him for the past 27 years. He is a great leader and provider but an even better loving Father, Husband and Best Friend.
All in all we had a wonderful day. I got to serve at church leading worship honoring my heavenly Father. I got to sit with my husband through a wonderful message by our lead Pastor Josiah Nordgren. I got to come home to have a special lunch with my family and was so blessed that my Dad was able to be there. We all got to watch an unbelievable game 7 of the NBA Finals and watch LeBron James make history with the Cleveland Cavaliers. I got to go to the new theater in my Kapolei where you can completely recline in a comfy lounge chair to watch a movie and then came home feeling blessed after a really amazing day with the people I love most.
I know that Father's Day can be tough for some. Some friends have lost their Fathers in recent years. Others never had a Dad or had a strained relationship with theirs. But I was reminded that Father's Day can still be a day to honor other people in our lives who have filled in as role models and mentors in our life. To honor Uncles and Brothers who have stepped in as Fathers when there is a need and even for Single Moms who have played both the role of Father and Mother to their children. Ultimately, we can honor our Father in heaven from whom all blessings flow.
I hope no matter how you celebrated it, that you had a blessed and wonderful Father's Day.
