Make A Difference

Today I received a phone call from a dear friend.  Someone who I don't get to talk to as often as I'd like because she lives far away in a different time zone.  However, whenever I have an opportunity to see or hear from herI feel happy because she is a ray of sunshine and someone who always brightens my day.   Today's call started out with her sweet and bubbly voice but within a few moments she warned me that she was calling with some bad news.  As she shared her news, my heart sank to hear that she is going through a very difficult challenge and was just calling to ask me to pray for her.  As she shared, I quickly noticed that although her news was bad, her spirit was good.  She was at peace and had a confidence in God that everything was going to be alright.  That is something I love about her.  She is someone who practices what she preaches.  In her most trying moment she placed her confidence and trust in God knowing that everything was in His hands.

I had the opportunity to pray for her and then after we hung up I couldn't get her off my mind.  I had a bunch of stuff to do and a thought popped into my head to stop and make her a card, so I did just that.

Hey Girl -

Hey Girl -

It only took me a few moments to make this card.  It is not the most perfect card I've ever created but the fact is that I did it.  As soon as it was completed, I wrote and encouraging message inside and marched it straight out to my mailbox.  The sentiment says, You've got courage, You've got strength and on the inside it reads, You've got ME!  I hope that when she reads it she will feel encouraged and know that she is not alone.

This year I'm working on a personal goal to send more cards.  I am glad that today I acted upon that thought to take a few moments to create something that I could send to my friend for encouragement and support.

I know that many of you reading this are really great at sending cards and timely messages on a regular basis.  However, if there are any of you like me who sometimes struggle to stay on top of things like that, I want to encourage you today to just send one.  Who comes to your mind?  Who do you need to thank?  Who do you feel led to encourage?  Who do you want to celebrate?  Take time today to send an unexpected hand stamped blessing and know that by doing so you are making a difference.
