This week I decorated my home for the Fall. After Christmas, it's my second most favorite time of the year. Although living in Hawaii we don't get to see the beautiful changing colors of the leaves, I do my best to bring a little of that Fall spirit in the way I decorate my home.
Tonight is my September Bunco night, so I named it "Back to School" bunco and I had so much fun planning the favors and creating my aloha prize.
For the favors, I made this cute pencil. It was quite simple to make. I used the simply scored scoring tool and made score marks on a hello honey piece of card stock that had been stamped with the sentiment, "to a good friend". I then wrapped it around a roll of mentos that had a candy kiss glue dotted to the end. The eraser and silver band were also made with card stock.
Since I created candy "pencils" for the favor I thought a real pencil box would be appropriate for the aloha prize. I made this one by cutting one of our Tag-A-Bag boxes in half. Rather than sliding the plastic cover over the box, I cut it and trimmed it so it would just fit over the top like a lid. This box is exactly half the size of the normal box and was perfect for storing a bunch of real No. 2 pencils that are sharp and ready to be put to use for the new school year. The apple was created with our red glimmer paper and the little tag with the Time to Celebrate Hostess set. I LOVE this cute caterpillar and thought he added the perfect finishing touch to the gift tag.
In just a few hours my home will be filled with lots of love, cheers and laughter for tonight's bunco game. I am excited for everyone to feel the Fall Spirit in the warmth of my home and hope they will love these cute pencil favors as much as I enjoyed creating them. Happy Fall Everyone, let the season of Gratitude begin!
