In Kailua Town there is a wonderful shop called the Aloha Sunday Supply Company and inside this trendy boutique there is a hidden treasure, the Local Shave Ice. My daughter found this place on Instagram and would tell me often how amazing the shave ice was. My daughters photos and rave reviews about this place made me drive 40 minutes to get there and can I just say, it was worth the trip!
Their syrups are all natural and made with local ingredients such as pineapple, guava, lilikoi, mountain apple, and my favorite ginger. Just writing about it is making me want to jump in the car and head there right now. Well... this really ono treat inspired me to create a card for my recent Hawaiian card class.
I created this card using the french fry box die, some embossing folders and the oval framelets. I sponged pink pirouette and so saffron to make it look like syrup and added a layer of dazzling details to give it an icy finish.
Recently, I had a free afternoon and so I went with my sons girlfriend to Kailua and told her she had to try the shave ice at The Local. It was then that she told me that she really wasn't a fan of shave ice but she would try it.
We decided to share because most likely she was "just going to take a bite". Well as you can see from her photo below she took a little more than just one bite and changed her mind about how she felt about shave ice.
I highly recommend you check this place out and next time you want to send someone you love a really fun card, why not create a shave ice card which may not be as delicious but certainly is as sweet!!!
