Market Fresh Bunco

Over a year ago I began to host monthly bunco games at my home.  I started having these events during a time I was struggling with a back injury and it was hard for me to go outside my home for workshops or classes.   I thought I might just host one or two until my back was healed but once I started hosting and saw how much joy these events brought not only to me but all who attended, I was excited to plan them monthly.

God works in mysterious ways and although my back injury was unpleasant,  it opened up the door for me to host what I now consider to be the most fun event I host each month.  Bunco brings me a lot of joy because I love being around happy people and these events are filled with so much laughter and excitement that is contagious to all that attend.

Yesterdays bunco was special because of Bella.  Bella attends bunco regularly with her mom, its their special monthly mother/daughter outing.  Yesterday was Bellas 12th birthday and she asked her mom if she could spend part of her special day with us.  This blessed me so much to know that she enjoys it so much she didn't want to miss it, not even on her birthday!

Bella is holding our "Aloha Prize",  since our theme was Summer Berry Bunco I created this little basket made with the Big Shot and our Berry Basket Bigs L Die (links to the supplies are listed at the bottom of this post).  The berries were made with 6 x 6 pieces of real red card stock that I folded and cut with scissors and a the top was made with garden green card stock and our Fun Flower punch.  Whomever wins the "Aloha Prize" is the big winner of the night.

Each strawberry is filled with individual servings of Strawberry Kool Aid drink mix that has been folded up to fit inside and tied nicely with our 1/8 Gold Ribbon.  The shredded grass in this basket is made by cutting tiny strips of our Cucumber Crush card stock which is appropriately named because I crumpled and CRUSHED it to create this quick and simple basket filler.

Each bunco nights theme is seen not only in the Aloha Prize but also in the hand stamped favors everyone gets as well as the 6 product prize bundles.  Our theme for August was Summer Berry Bunco.  Each guest received this favor created with the Market Fresh stamp set and the Farmer's Market Designer Series Paper.

If you've seen this set, you may notice that the words on the strawberries don't match the words on the card below.  Thats because I wanted to make it into a thank you card so I changed the words by stamping the grape image onto a scrap paper and cutting out the word portion to overlay on the strawberry image.

Bella didn't go home with a big prize this month... but I guarantee she had fun as seen in this photo and of course we gave her a hand stamped card and a cake to celebrate her special day.

My Monday night event begins in a few hours.   My house is very quiet now which is nice but not quite as nice as all the noise that will fill my home soon when everyone arrives.  Last month at my Monday bunco our big winner was my friend Liane who picked up her prize by doing a little dance.  I saw Liane at church yesterday and she said she been working on new moves in case of a victory tonight so I kind of hope she wins something so I can see what she's been practicing!!!

I am thankful for the blessing of bunco and for the joy that each one who attends brings into my life.
