Today is Derek's Birthday! He is such an amazing husband. My life has been abundantly blessed since the day God brought him into my life. He works so hard to provide for us and blesses us daily with his wisdom, leadership and love.
Two weeks ago he blessed me with an unexpected trip to Maui where we had the opportunity to celebrate his birthday a little early as well as our 28th wedding anniversary. Derek knew my good friend Lynsay was visiting Maui at that same time. So having Lynsay and her family in Maui was the icing on the birthday/anniversary gluten free cake!
We checked into the beautiful Grand Wailea Resort. I had been to this resort before but never stayed there. It was AMAZING!!! The entire time we were there we were greeted with the word "Aloha" by every staff member we encountered on a daily basis. Being one who loves and appreciates the Aloha Spirit, it was definitely felt on this property.
Every time we came in and out of our room we were able to look down at these creative and beautiful bushes that spelled out my favorite word. These shrubs are literally STAMPED with ALOHA! Hmmm, this might be a fun project to try in my own back yard!
Derek loves to golf and Maui has some outstanding golf courses so while he planned a couple of early morning outings, I was blessed to hang out with Lynsay. We took advantage of every opportunity to spend together and it was fabulous! Here are some of the highlights.
I posted this photo on Instagram and Facebook of us our way to dinner at the resort and I got a ton of compliments on my Manuhealii Ali'i dress. If you follow my blog you know that I love to create cards after things that inspire me so I decided to create a card for Derek's birthday today using the colors of my dress (Pacific Point and Marina Mist). It also gave me the opportunity to use brand new product that I just received and am SO excited about.
This set is called Botanical Blooms, is one that you are going to see OFTEN on my blog as i know my customers and down line here in Hawaii are always asking cards that look Hawaiian and this set will definitely fulfill that request. These two stamps were meant to be stamped on top of each other but I went ahead and stamped them separately just filling in all the space on the card stock.
The Botanical Blooms set is definitely a new favorite product but so it the awesome new Party with Cake stamp set with matching Party Pop Up Thinlets. It is incredibly easy to make gorgeous pop up cards in just a matter of minutes.
Here's a close up of the inside of the card. I enclosed a folded piece of stamped card stock that matched the design on the front to make it coordinate.
Well its just about time to celebrate. Kalani just ran into the room and asked me if I had a gift bag. I told him to check my stamp room as I thought I might have some plain bags. Thirty seconds later Kalani came out with a smile holding this bag and proudly showing me that he had stamped the bag on the front and the back. Too Funny! I know he just picked up whatever he found laying out on my table (such as the pink ribbon) but I know Derek will appreciate his effort to use Stampin' Up! products to make a plan bag have a birthday message!
As I reflect on the amazing trip we went on, I am so grateful for my amazing husband and look forward to a fun family gathering tonight in honor of him. Maybe, I'll wear my blue dress that inspired the blue Botanical birthday card I created for him! I hope that on his special day today he will know how grateful we are that God blessed our lives with him. Happy Birthday Derek, we Love You!
