Pastor Mike is the Senior Pastor of New Hope Leeward Church and a part of my extended ohana. He is someone who has been blessed with an abundance of creativity, passion, vision and drive to make a difference in this world. It was with that same heart that he decided for his birthday that he would like to host a blood drive. Since he was turning 45, he set a goal of getting 45 people to join him in this effort.
Even people who have never donated before came out to support Pastor Mikes vision to give back and save lives by giving blood at our local blood bank. He not only met his goal of 45 people but exceeded it by having over 50 people donate blood that day. "WOO-HOO!", as Pastor Mike would say.
It was with that spirit in mind that I created over 50 thank you cards to donate to Pastor Mike to bless him on his birthday. Pastor Mike is very good about sending thank you cards so I wanted to give him something that would represent his gratitude towards all who came out to help him reach his goal.
I was glad I had some extra red foil sheets in stock so I could use them to make these hot air balloons and I used the center of the bow punch to punch out pieces of white card stock to form a cross. Choosing the sentiment stamp was easy because everyone knows Pastor Mike's energetic "Woo-Hoo" spirit! That spirit is evident when you see him preaching about Jesus, our SAVIOR or when he roots for his favorite team, the SEAHAWKS and of course when he makes his daily visit to his favorite place, STARBUCKS.
Knowing that Pastor Mike LOVES Starbucks more than anyone, it was easy to create a birthday card for him.
I designed this coffee cup shape card using the same beautiful red foil and coordinated it with cucumber crush card stock and ink. The little hole in the lid was created with our curvy corner trio punch which will come in so handy this holiday season especially for making gift tags. I overlaid the foil onto a piece of folded whisper white card stock and used glue dots to adhere the layers of whisper white card stock that I rounded with the envelope punch board to make into a lid.
Here's a closer look.
I like these new Starbucks holiday red cups. They are simple and meant to represent not just simplicity but peace and calmness during the Holiday Season! I know that for myself and I'm sure Pastor Mike too, they remind us of the simple truth that Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
It was great to see so many come out to support Pastor Mike on his special day.
