Best Day Ever (2018)

As 2018 comes to an end, I am grateful for all the wonderful memories made during this year. If I had to choose one day of 2018 to be known as the BEST DAY EVER, it would be an easy choice. I’d pick Friday, May 11th, 2018. This was the day Brett and Jess got married.

Here are some of my favorite memories from their wedding.

The night before the wedding Jess checked into the Four Seasons in Ko'olina.  The room was gorgeous and provided the perfect setting for all the bridal party to get ready together, The room was spacious, comfortable and had an amazing view of the ocean.

It was so nice to see how supportive these girls were to Jess.  I feel so thankful that she is blessed with such great friends.

Just before she got dressed Jessica read a card that Brett had sent for her.  Brett knows that Jessica's love language is "Words of Encouragement", so to watch her receive a card filled with thoughtful, loving words from Brett was such a sweet moment.  Of course the icing on the cake was the fact that Brett made the card for her in my stamp studio using Stampin' Up! products.

Unbeknownst to Brett, Jessica had the same idea.  A card was given to him as him as well, one that Jessica had stamped for him.

Although I wasn't there to see him receive it, I am glad that the photographer captured this moment.

Once Jessica was ready, we surrounded her to pray.  It was the perfect way to begin a day that was so special from start to finish.

One of the most special moments was when everyone left the room and Jessica set up a “first look” with Derek. It was so touching to see Derek’s reaction when he saw Jessica in her wedding dress.

He did a really good job holding it together as he walked her down the aisle.

The wedding was held next door to the Four Seasons at Lanikuhonua.  The name of this property means, "where heaven meets the earth".  I can't think of a more perfect setting for this momentous occasion.

Although I knew some of Jessica's plans.  I really didn't understand how everything was going to "fit" together.  So seeing the venue, the flowers, the centerpieces, table decor, wedding arch, etc was all a first for me.  Since Jessica is in the wedding industry I knew whatever she put together was going to be amazing and it was.   As I saw how everything was coordinated just the way Brett and Jess wanted, I couldn’t stop smiling. I had a few people come up to me and tell me that I looked so happy that day, and I really was.   It was such a special day.

As the tables were set up, the party favors were set on the table at each persons seat. My friend Cindy of Zoe Hawaii made the most adorable Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies and I packaged them using a Stampin’ Up Acetate Box that I cut in half.

Here is a close up of the favors. Cindy did such an amazing job with these personalized creations. As I’ve said before about her treats, they not only look good but they taste amazing.

On the back of each box I made, there was a poem that read. “Like Peanut Butter and Jelly, Love is Sweet. Thank You for Making Our Day Complete! With Love, Pastor Brett and Jess (Nicknamed PB and J by their students) “

The reception was held at the same location as the wedding. It was an absolutely beautiful day for an outdoor reception.

My favorite moment from the reception was watching Jess surprise Brett with a special hula she had prepared for him. It was special because Jess doesn’t like to get up in front of others to perform so this was truly an act of love to bless Brett on their special day

Of course another moment filled with surprises was when Jess and Derek were doing their Father and Daughter dance

Their dance was interrupted when they began to rap about the wedding day to a Bruno Mars song.

Jess probably thought that all the surprises were over but Derek had one more surprise for the Bride and Groom. He called up Brett’s Dad, Norm and the two of them did a lip sync to the song, Sharp Dressed Man.

Speaking of Norm, we are so blessed that Jessica married into the Nakasone family. They are such wonderful people.

For my Christmas Card this year I used our family photo from the wedding.

I printed the photo into a 4 x 6 size and then I cropped it to 4 x 4. I then added a 1 3/4 x 4 piece of the Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper. I mounted the strip and the photo to the front of one of our pre made Whisper White Large Memory and More Cards.

I then just added a small strip of Whisper White card stock across the front with a Merry Christmas sentiment. I created the notches in the banner with the Triple Banner Punch. I used two different sheets of the Joyous Noel DSP as both matched our family photo really well.

I was glad that I could use Stampin’ Up! products to create this card that captures a moment from our favorite day of 2018.

It truly was the BEST DAY EVER!!!

Aria Studios did such an amazing job not only capturing many of the beautiful photos I’ve shared in this post but they also created two amazing videos. If you want to watch them you can click HERE to watch Brett and Jessica’s Love Story. This creative and fun video was shared at the reception. Also to see a video that highlights all the special moments of their actual wedding day and will show you many of the things I wrote about today, you can click HERE.

I hope that like me you are remembering special moments you’ve shared with family and friends over this past year. Special moments don’t always have to be attached to joyous occasions. Often its trials and difficult seasons that can produce change and growth in us that at the time don’t seem like things to be grateful for but we can look back later and give thanks. No matter what season you are in, know that as I bring this post to a close I am saying a prayer for each one of you reading this that you will be blessed with many special memorable moments that you can call the Best Day Ever in the New Year to come!

I wish you a happy and BEST blessed New Year ever!

With Aloha,

Cindy

Family and Friends

I love spending time with family and friends during the holidays. One of my favorite holiday traditions is going to the Nutcracker performed by Ballet Hawaii. I have been going to the Nutcracker for the past 10 years to watch Aria, my friend Karin’s daughter, dance ballet.

Aria made her Nutcracker debut as this precious angel at the age of six.

Aria is now 16 and this year we were blessed to watch her dance in one of my favorite scenes where she was a Snowflake.

Hasn’t she grown up to be a beautiful ballerina? And she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

After the performance family and friends gathered outside the stage door to congratulate her. My friends and I discovered that we were all very unintentionally color coordinated!!

Cindy and I found a gift to give to Aria and I wrapped it in this cute ballerina themed wrapping paper. Since the paper was pink, I made a card to match.

I created this card using a brand new stamp set called Family and Friends. This photopolymer stamp set has 40 unique pieces that you can use to create people with different hairstyles, bodies and facial expressions. This set will be available on January 3rd , 2019 when our new Occasions Catalog is released.

To create the ballerina I had to stamp the body, hair and face separately. I used my Stamperatus which made lining up the different parts a breeze!

Since Aria’s costume was white, I didn’t color the top of the body. Instead, I brushed the top with a Wink of Stella to add shimmer.

In 2016 Ballet Hawaii celebrated their 40th anniversary. That year they revamped the ballet to a Hawaiian rendition. I’ve enjoyed this beautiful rendition so much. It is so colorful and its fun to see how they’ve incorporated a Hawaiian theme to the ballet. I can honestly say for the past three years that I’ve watched this rendition it get’s better and better. That’s probably because I love Hawaiiana so much but know what I love even more??

I love watching this sweet, kind and beautiful girl dance so gracefully using her God given talents to shine in whatever role she is given.

Next year will be her final performance and it will be a time for us to gather and celebrate Aria once again! I am so grateful for this special holiday tradition we get to share as family and friends.

Glow of Glam Event

Today, I have been working on some special projects for a holiday pop-up event I am going to be at next week. The event is called GLOW OF GLAM and will be held, Tuesday, December 18th from 6pm to 9pm at Cosmic Beauty in Kapolei.

Holiday Pop Up Event at Cosmic Beauty

Holiday Pop Up Event at Cosmic Beauty

I am not sure if you’ve ever been to Cosmic Beauty but it is such an incredible salon. Its located across from the Kapolei FOODLAND. The address is: 4850 Kapolei Parkway, #501. I feel so fortunate to live so close, its located only about one mile from my home. When you go there you truly get pampered. It is a very classy place with a very helpful and friendly staff.

If you are able, please come and visit me at this event. I will have some small stocking stuffers for sale and you will enjoy the opportunity to shop with several of other fabulous vendors and check out all the wonderful products Cosmic Beauty has for sale as well. In fact, with a $25 purchase of their products they are offering a free Custom Blow Out.

Here is one of the projects I designed for this event.

Tiny Treat Box Nail Polish Holder

Tiny Treat Box Nail Polish Holder

I created this project using our Clear Tiny Treat Boxes, a couple of circle punches, a pair of Paper Snips.

I punched a one inch circle through the top of the lid. Then I opened up the top flaps and snipped off about 1/4 inch on each side so that a bottle of polish can fit inside. I filled each box with a little sprinkle of fake snow. Then to complete it I just did some simple stamping and layering of small card stock squares and this project was complete within a few minutes.

On the back. I added a “to-from” image so that you can write the name of whoever you plan to give this to, so no additional tag is needed.

I am super excited to be a part of this fun event. I would love it if you could stop by. Why not invite a friend or two and head on over to Cosmic Beauty next week. If you let me know you’re coming I will have a copy of our new Occasions Catalog and Saleabration Brochure available to you FREE of charge.

I hope to see you there!

SWA Annual Christmas Party

I love entertaining and having friends over during the holidays. Last week, I hosted my annual Stamped With Aloha Christmas Party at my home. We enjoyed dinner, some fun games and a hand stamped gift exchange.

Let me share a few highlights from the party.

Sometimes, I set up outdoors under a tent. This year, however, I kept everything indoors which made it a little more cozy.

Tiny Treat Box Favors

At each person’s place setting. I had a little hand stamped favor made with one of our Clear Tiny Treat Boxes.

I got this favor idea from my friend Kim Williams. Kim had shared this idea with me last month when we were at the On Stage event in Florida.

Santa’s Workshop Tiny Treat Favor

Kim has an amazing blog and just yesterday she posted this project along with instructions on how to make it. If you’d like to learn how you can click here to go to Kim’s blog. You will enjoy seeing the adorable designs Kim came up with.

I am so thankful Kim shared this idea with me. These Clear Tiny Treat Boxes not only looked cute on the table but they were useful too! We opened them during a stampin’ bingo game to use the candy to mark our boards. I made sure to put extra candy so you could play and enjoy a sweet treat at the same time.

I always create a snowman ornament as a party favor. It’s a tradition! I knew exactly what I wanted to make this year. I was inspired by an idea that demonstrator Mary Polcin had created using a spoon. Mary told me to feel free and “case” (copy and share) her idea so I did.

Below you can see all the snowman spoon ornaments hanging on a tree where each guest could find one and take one home.

Here’s a close up of the spoon. I drilled a hole in the top of the spoon. I also dipped each spoon in Embossing Paste so it would look like snow.

Aren’t these spoon ornaments festive and fun?

Our Embossing Paste is really great to use on projects, especially during the holidays. I used Embossing Paste on the gift I created for the gift exchange at this party too.

Here is what I created using scraps from the Santa’s Workshop Memories and More kit.

Holiday House

Do you see the Embossing Paste “snow” on the roof? I even created a few icicles with it too!

The base of this house was made of metal. It was actually a metal lantern that I had purchased at Wal Mart.

This house had a hole in the bottom of it so I added a string of battery operated lights to go inside. I turned the lights on just before wrapping the gift so the recipient be surprised by the lights when she opened the box.

Rene was the recipient of this gift. Rene told me yesterday that she had planned on taking it to work but her husband liked it so much that he wanted to keep it as a decoration in their home, so they did.

Here are some of the amazing creations made by members of my downline. I wish I had photos of them all but I only captured photos of a few of them.

Jodi made this festive magnet board and matching set of cards. The little elf’s are magnets that can be repositioned.
