Pink With Purpose Event

Last week was our first Pink With Purpose Event.  I wanted to take some time to thank everyone for stopping by and supporting us.  This event was hosted by Annie, Michelle and myself.  All three of us have something in common, we are Cancer Survivors.

When I was diagnosed these two beautiful women blessed me with an abundance of love, encouragement and support.  They had a lot of wise words from their own experience and I am so grateful they took the time to help me.  I am certainly blessed to have them in my life.

Our guests "dropped by" between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm enjoyed favors, free make and takes and door prizes.

The favors were pink ribbon pencils that were topped with a ribbon I cut out using the Support Ribbon framelits.

The Support Ribbon Framelit also has this cute heart shaped framelit that I used as the focal point for the Thank You Sentiment.  What is awesome about these framelits is that you can cut them out in different colors to show your support for many different causes.

Our Make and Takes were these two cards and we offered a free Pink Post It Note holder to any Cancer Survivor who stopped by that day.

We are so grateful for everyone who was able to attend.

One of my demonstrator friends from Minnesota named Brenda was on the island at the perfect time, so she was able to stop by that day!

We even had a visit from a Queen when HRH Kehau stopped by to support us.  It was a sunny day out which is why she has her glasses on her head, otherwise I'm sure she'd be wearing her tiara!

When Juliet stopped by, she brought me this beautiful plant.  I had never seen this type of Calla Lilly before.  Juliet also made me an adorable card.

Isn't this sweet little hedge hog cute?  This card was made from our Painted Harvest Stamp Set.  I loved the fun and out of the box way this card was created.

We were spoiled at this event with wonderful refreshments.  That is because they were coordinated and prepared by Annie who is a Pampered Chef consultant and a wiz in the kitchen.

In addition to these yummy treats, Annie also demonstrated how to make Coconut Whipping Cream using the new Pampered Chef whipped cream maker that is available in pink during the month of October.  Purchasing this item also helps raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness.  I was so excited to learn how to make this healthier version of Whipping Cream that was simple to make and oh so delicious!

We had a retired stamp sale at this event as well.

Our heart at this event was to raise funds for Hawaii's Hope Lodge.  We did that by having a donation jar that you could drop any sized donation into.

Thank you to all who donated and who purchased Stampin' Up! or Pampered Chef products that day as a portion of our commission will be going to help Hope Lodge as well.

Annie brought these wonderful flyers so we could all be aware of the other needs that Hope Lodge has.

These cards were mailed to me during my recent Breast Cancer Battle.  As each card arrived I was so touched by all the kind words and loving support.   This encourages me to now "give back" by partnering together with Annie and Michelle to be a blessing to Hope Lodge.  I hope you will be encouraged to join us as well.  No matter how big or small, what you are able to give matters!

If you would like to join us please let one of us know so we can continue to bless and support this wonderful organization that is making a difference in Hawaii for those battling Cancer.

Always remember that YOU can make a difference!  Let's continue to do that Together!

Stamp Studio Blessing

This past Saturday evening I had a Stamp Studio Blessing.  I purposely planned this for the eve before the "Grand Opening" of my new stamp studio.  The blessing was led by one of my dear friends, Pastor Alec Shimizu from New Hope Leeward, who is like a brother to me.

Stamp Studio Blessing - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Stamp Studio Blessing - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Alec has always been an encouraging friend but during my recent diagnosis with breast cancer he was especially caring and supportive and for that I am so grateful.

Alec and Cindy - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Alec and Cindy - www.stampedwithaloha.com

As we discussed what would take place at the blessing, Alec explained that he would open up with prayer and then ask me to share a little about my history as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  Some of the things that came to mind was how I had initially started just to get a discount on product.  Then I remembered all the other blessings that have happened such as traveling the world and making amazing friendships.  While all of these things have been amazing parts of my journey, the purpose behind why I do what I do is so much bigger than that.

Stamp Studio Blessing - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Stamp Studio Blessing - www.stampedwithaloha.com

I was reminded of that purpose the day before my blessing when I visited the YWAM base with two friends who were classmates of mine 30 years ago.   We attended a Discipleship Training School in the late 80's.   I hadn't seen one of these friends in 30 years so we all had a lot of catching up to do.

YWAM 30 year Reunion

YWAM 30 year Reunion

As we reminisced we spoke of a time when a lady named Diane Littleton came to pray over us.  After Diane would pray over each student she would share about what God spoke to her as she prayed.  As she prayed for me she said, "I see you surrounded by hundreds of women, you are being an influence and encouragement to them".  When she was done I smiled and inwardly thought that she must have gotten that message about someone else because I am not someone who is comfortable being in front of a large group of women and I didn't feel a call to be involved with women's ministry.

Then I thought about where I am today.  Through my experience with Stampin' Up!  I AM surrounded by hundreds of women.  Amazingly beautiful women who are my customers, downline, sidelines, sister demonstrators, wonderful family, and amazing friends.   What Diane prayed has come true.  It made me think that sometimes we don't think we have the ability to do something, but with God's help, we can overcome those insecurities and fears.  I love the fact that God led me in a very creative format to show me how he could use me to bless others through sharing inspiration and creativity with ink and and paper.  I love what I do and hope I can be a positive influence and encourager to everyone I meet.

For my new space, that is my hope.  I want to be more intentional in helping others as God leads me to do so.  I want to make a difference.

As we closed our time together, Alec had us all go around the room and pray.  We prayed over every inch of this new space as you can see in the photo below.

Stamp Studio Blessing - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Stamp Studio Blessing - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Even as I look at this photo of this special moment, I am reminded of the peace and joy that fills this space.   I love how everyone, young and old are smiling.   It is my hope that everyone who steps foot in this space would feel loved and encouraged as they create projects designed to encourage them in the process and bless others when they are used.

Alec closed with a prayer of dedication and then we enjoyed dinner and fellowship.

It was good to have my sisters here to celebrate with me.  I love how we share so many different life experiences together.

Karin and family brought the beautiful lei I am wearing.  Karin said she picked an orchid/rose lei so I could wear it at my open house the next day.

Cindy and family brought me this beautiful white and gold pineapple.   What a special momento to commemorate this special day.

I am very thankful and blessed to do what I do as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I love that I have a job I can use to not only be creative but to inspire others, encourage others, and do my best to make a difference.  I am thankful for this new space that has been dedicated to God because I recognize all that I have, all that I am is because of Him.

So, do you want to see my new space?  Since some of you have asked.  Here are a few photos!

The counter and cabinets on this wall are all new.  There is lots of storage both in the tall cabinets and in the deep drawers.  The ink pad holders are old.  They were custom made in Hawaii many years ago by Randy Pang.  I just painted them white to match my decor.

Cindy's Stamp Studio - www.stampedwithaloha.com

The dry erase boards at the back of my studio were made when I took the existing tall cabinets and turned them around to provide hidden storage behind this wall,   I then used the back of the cabinet as a dry erase board by adding a panel that could be used this way.  This has been really helpful in keeping me organized.

The paper storage pictured here is from Stampin' Storage.  A wonderful company that creates custom storage units for crafters.  The middle drawer has a pull out section where all of my scrap paper is kept in hanging file folders.

On this wall I have all my punches in a punch unit I purchased from Stampin' Storage.  My stamps are stored on CD racks my friend Cindy found for me years ago on Craig's List.  The large TV is great for playing the music station during a class.  I also like watching tv sometimes when I work, its usually Hallmark Movies or Football.  Yep!  I love them both.

This hidden desk area has another small card rack where I store personal cards that are ready to send.  I also have a business supplies tucked in these older cabinets that I moved to this area.  To save space I hung extra chairs on the wall and I have a bulletin board where I keep some encouraging words to look at as well as a photo os my favorite inspirational quarterback, Russell Wilson.

One of my favorite things in this space is this custom sign by Soha Living.  Its a fun way to remind people of the positive spirit I hope will invade this space.

Well, in my next post I'll share a little about my Pink With Purpose Event.   Although I don't have any card samples to share with you today, I hope you enjoyed a closer look at my new space.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this post and allow me to share about my Studio Blessing.

With Love and Stamped Blessings,

Cindy

Paper Pumpkins

When you hear the word Paper Pumpkin you may be thinking I am referring to the awesome monthly Stampin' Up! craft kit you can subscribe to, but that's not it.  I am literally talking about a pumpkin that has been covered in strips of our beautiful Painted Autumn Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper to create a decorative fall home decor piece.

Painted Harvest Pumpkin - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Painted Harvest Pumpkin - www.stampedwithaloha.com

To create these fun decorative works of art I simply purchased plastic pumpkins at WalMart.  I then took one and a half pieces of Designer Series Paper and cut them into strips.  I then covered the strips with Mod Podge glue and adhered them to the plastic pumpkin.  I used hot glue to add some leaves at the top.

Since I host two separate Bunco groups each month,  I made two different pumpkins.  The one pictured above was the prize given at Sunday's Bunco.

Stampin' Bunco is so much fun.  We always have a great time.

The most unique thing happened at Sunday Bunco, Lori and Bea added up their score card and they had the exact same score in everything!

Bunco Twins - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Bunco Twins - www.stampedwithaloha.com

This has never happened before.  We declared them official Bunco Twins!

Something cute happened at Monday's Bunco too!  Becky won the pumpkin aloha prize early in the game and as she held it close she said, "this is my baby, please don't anyone take this from me".  Well as usual, the pumpkin got passed around all night until the last round when it ended up in the hands of Roxanne, Becky's daughter.  When Becky saw that her daughter won she stood up and said, "I think you should give that to me because giving birth to you was really hard, and remember I said that the pumpkin was my baby, just like you?"  Roxanne smiled and being the kind daughter she is she said, "Of course Mother, if you want it, you can have it".  We all laughed watching this exchange and both Mother and Daughter were blessed and went home like happy campers.

Monday's paper pumpkin that went home with Becky is the one below.  It is pictured along with one of the cute pizza box favors that everyone got at this month's bunco.

It's hard to tell in this photo but I also brushed "wink of stella" over the black pumpkin and words, "I am thankful for you", to make them shimmer.

I was really happy to give these favors to each of my guest because I truly am thankful for them all.  We laugh, we eat, we play, we really enjoy each others company.  When I told them that we may not have Bunco in December the response was moaning and groaning.  I love it that these friends love to come over and spend this time with me.  Who knows... maybe we'll have to find a way to have one in December after all!

Pink With Purpose

A year ago I shared a post on my blog called Pink Ribbon Cards.  As you probably know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and at that time I had just watched three very precious friends deal with the challenges that come from having breast cancer.  Little did I know that just 6 months later, I too would be sitting in a doctors office receiving the same diagnosis.

One of my survivor sisters said, "Gee, I know you're a supportive friend, but you didn't have to join the club".

Cindy Hiking in Maili

Cindy Hiking in Maili

I was very fortunate that my cancer was non-invasive.  So now just 6 months after surgery and radiation treatment I can say that I am officially cancer free.  If you've followed my journey on my blog, you may remember that I was diagnosed at the same time I was beginning a remodel project in my stamp room.  I see now that God had plans to "re-model" my life.

Going through this battle I learned so much.   I learned to appreciate family and friends more.  I learned the importance of rest. I learned that the best way for me to deal with challenges is to give them to God and ask for His help, strength and wisdom.  I learned that I was loved way more than I ever realized.  I learned the importance of making time to demonstrate love, not only in words but in my actions.  I witnessed that miracles are real and that even the most difficult challenges can work out to be blessings in disguise.  I learned that difficulties help you to grow and can make you stronger.  I realized that I am very, very fortunate and extremely blessed.

So it is with a heart of gratitude that I plan to officially dedicate and reopen my new stamp studio next weekend with a Pink With Purpose Celebration Event.  This is a FREE event but there will be opportunities to donate to Hawaii's HOPE LODGE, which is a tremendous organization that helps provide a home away from home for patients and their caregivers who are going through treatment in Honolulu.  This event, is called PINK WITH PURPOSE and will be held on Sunday, October 15th at my home in Kapolei.

The Free Make and Takes have all been created from the lovely Ribbon Of Courage Stamp Set.  This amazing stamp set and coordinating framelit was designed by Million Dollar Achiever Demonstrator Patty Bennett.  Patty did an amazing job, it is such a beautiful set.

Here are the projects I designed with the Ribbon of Courage stamp set and coordinating framelits.

Ribbon of Courage Projects - www.stampedwithaloha.com

The Make and Takes are the two cards standing above.  The post it note holder is a special gift of encouragment, given to anyone who attends who has battled cancer.

Here is a close up of the projects.

Ribbon of Courage Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Ribbon of Courage Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Basic Black and Pink Pirouette are the main colors of all three projects.  This card featured the large ribbon stamp.  This is actually a "two step" stamp, the pink color comes from stamping a solid ribbon stamp over the decorative ribbon stamp.   The thing I love about this set is you can use it to make different colored ribbons for other occasions.  I love the detail of the stamp, especially the beautiful pattern filled with hearts and flowers.

Ribbon of Courage Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Ribbon of Courage Card - www.stampedwithaloha.com

Card number two is covered in hearts that display the same beautiful pattern as the ribbon stamp.  I chose to leave these hearts uncolored and instead add a pop of pink with the tiny pink ribbon accent that is used under the sweet sentiment.

The post it note holder gifts we will pre make are very quick and simple to put together.

Ribbon of Courage Post It Note Holders - www.stampedwithaloha.com

The measurements of the post it note holder are:

3 1/2 x 8 Pink Pirouette Card Stock

Score it at 2 in, 2 3/8 in, 5 1/2 in. and 5 7/8 in.

The black panels on the front are 3 1/4 x 1 3/4

This holder stays closed by strategically placing the pink heart on the right side and lifting it up with a dimensional so that the flap gets stuck under the heart when folded.

Ribbon of Courage Post It Note Holders

The inside of the post it note holders have bright pink post its and there will even be coordinating pens while supplies last.

I will be co-hosting this event with two special friends who also happen to be Cancer Survivors.  My friend Annie will be whipping up some light refreshments for all to enjoy.  Something she does quite well.  My friend and sister demonstrator Michelle will be joining me in assisting with the make and takes and both of us will have a lot of things to sell at our retired stamp sale.  We are offering a 50% rebate on all retired products sold that day.  All of us will be donating a portion of our commission on any orders that are placed at this event to Hope Lodge and we will have a donation jar should you want to make a donation to them as well.

I realize I have a lot to celebrate and a lot to be thankful for.  I hope if you are free on Sunday, October 15th, you will stop by and visit us.  We will hold this event "open house" style.  Drop by my home anytime between 10am and 2pm.  Feel free to invite your friends, all are welcome.

If you need directions or have any questions, please let me know.  Email me at stampedwithaloha@gmail.com to let me know that you plan on stopping by so we can have a make and take kit ready for you.

I hope to see you there!

Together we can make a difference,

Cindy
